External Morphology of Leporinus oliveirai (Characiformes: Anostomidae) During Early Life Stages

open access: yesJournal of Morphology, Volume 286, Issue 7, July 2025.
Herein, we describe the early development of Leporinus oliveirai, a recently described species, documenting its external morphology with photographs and illustrations. The ontogeny of L. oliveirai is compared with other anostomids and developmental patterns are described for the family.

Receptor‐like kinases BIR1 and BIR3 modulate antiviral resistance by different mechanisms

open access: yesNew Phytologist, Volume 247, Issue 2, Page 813-829, July 2025.
Summary BRASSINOSTEROID INSENSITIVE1‐ASSOCIATED RECEPTOR KINASE 1 (BAK1)‐INTERACTING RECEPTOR‐LIKE KINASE (BIR) proteins are negative regulators of cell death and defense against microbes in Arabidopsis thaliana. Here, we demonstrate that the members of the BIR family function as negative regulators of antiviral resistance in Arabidopsis.

Transcriptional Changes in Cumulus Cells During In Vitro Maturation of Human Oocytes

open access: yesMolecular Reproduction and Development, Volume 92, Issue 6, June 2025.
ABSTRACT This study assessed transcriptional changes in human cumulus cells (CCs) during oocyte maturation In Vitro. CCs were collected from 25 cumulus‐oocyte complexes derived from surplus ovarian medulla tissue of eight women (mean age 29 years, range 19–36) undergoing ovarian tissue cryopreservation without ovarian stimulation.

Hydromechanical Modeling of Fault Rupture in Geologic CO2 Sequestration: A Comparison of Two Failure Criteria

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, Volume 52, Issue 10, 28 May 2025.
Abstract The large‐scale implementation of geological carbon sequestration has raised concerns about potential fault activation and induced seismicity, which could compromise storage integrity and pose seismic risks. We theoretically compared two failure criteria, Mohr‐Coulomb (MC) and Modified Cam‐Clay criteria (MCC), to assess fault rupture during ...

Criopreservação do sêmen testicular do teleósteo piau-açu Leporimus macrocephalus Testicular sperm cryopreservation of the teleost 'piau-açu' Leporinus macrocephalus

Ontogeny of the Skeleton of Leporinus oliveirai (Characiformes, Anotomidae)

open access: yesJournal of Morphology, Volume 286, Issue 5, May 2025.
In this study, we provide the first complete description of the skeleton ontogeny of an anostomid. The developmental sequence of 141 bony elements is described and illustrated. The main discoveries are numerous conical teeth on the premaxilla and dentary that are replaced with three or four large incisiform multicuspid teeth, that become unicuspid in ...
