Cortical thickness comparison between PiB-positive and PiB-negative healthy control patients.

open access: yes, 2011
Background: Studies have showed that B-amyloid plaques are likely to only exhibit local affects on the cortex at early stages of the disease before or when early cognition impairments occur. Understanding when and where neurodegeneration starts in the cortex may provide insights into the pathogenesis of AD.

High‐molecular‐weight polyisobutylenes (PIBs) and PIB networks from liquid PIBs by thiol‐ene clicking

Journal of Polymer Science Part A: Polymer Chemistry, 2019
ABSTRACTWe report the synthesis of high‐molecular‐weight linear polyisobutylenes (PIBs) and PIB networks from low‐molecular‐weight PIB by thiol‐ene click chemistry. Thus, liquid allyl‐telechelic PIB was reacted with small di‐ and tri‐thiols, and the thiolated intermediates chain‐extended by UV‐ or thermally induced free radical initiation to linear and

Overproduction of PIB-Type ATPases

2016
Understanding of the functions and mechanisms of fundamental processes in the cell requires structural information. Structural studies of membrane proteins typically necessitate large amounts of purified and preferably homogenous target protein. Here, we describe a rapid overproduction and purification strategy of a bacterial PIB-type ATPase for ...

Determinants of the Permethrin Impregnated Bednets (PIB) in the Republic of Benin: the role of women in the acquisition and utilization of PIBs

Social Science & Medicine, 1999
An important aspect of malaria control strategies has been the use of prophylactic measures such as impregnated bednets; however, adoption of this strategy has been slow and uneven. This study considers the factors determining Permethrin Impregnated Bednets (PIB) use in the context of a PIB promotion project in a rural area of Benin undertaken between ...
