Dapagliflozin prevents methylglyoxal‐induced retinal cell death in ARPE‐19 cells
Diabetic macular oedema is a diabetes complication of the eye, which may lead to permanent blindness. ARPE‐19 are human retinal cells used to study retinal diseases and potential therapeutics. Methylglyoxal is a compound increased in uncontrolled diabetes due to elevated blood glucose.

Endovascular Management of a Ruptured Aneurysm on a Posterior Inferior Cerebellar Artery with Extradural C2-Origin: Case Report and Literature Review [PDF]
Extracranial vascular pathology uncommonly causes intracranial subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH). Among possible lesions are aneurysms at the craniocervical junction arising from a posterior inferior cerebellar artery (PICA) with an extradural origin.

Reflections on Tiles (in Self-Assembly)
We define the Reflexive Tile Assembly Model (RTAM), which is obtained from the abstract Tile Assembly Model (aTAM) by allowing tiles to reflect across their horizontal and/or vertical axes. We show that the class of directed temperature-1 RTAM systems is

The chiral transition in two-flavor QCD [PDF]
QCD with N_f=2 is a specially interesting system to investigate the chiral transition. The order of the transition has still not been established. We report the results of an in-depth numerical investigation performed with staggered fermions on lattices ...

Time‐resolved X‐ray solution scattering captures how proteins change shape in real time under near‐native conditions. This article presents a practical workflow for light‐triggered TR‐XSS experiments, from data collection to structural refinement. Using a calcium‐transporting membrane protein as an example, the approach can be broadly applied to study ...

Exploratory Analysis of ELP1 Expression in Whole Blood From Patients With Familial Dysautonomia
ABSTRACT Background Familial dysautonomia (FD) is a hereditary neurodevelopmental disorder caused by aberrant splicing of the ELP1 gene, leading to a tissue‐specific reduction in ELP1 protein expression. Preclinical models indicate that increasing ELP1 levels can mitigate disease manifestations.

Layer-by-layer (LBL) technique is a prevalent way to construct multilayered films. Herein, using high conducting poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene) (PEDOT) and good stable redox-active poly(indole-5-carboxylic acid) (5-PICA), an alternately multilayered ...

Progress in Manufacturing and Characterizing Domestic Lyocell PICA (PICA-D) and Comparison to Heritage PICA [PDF]
NASA ARC is working with SMD-PSD to address PICA rayon sustainability concerns. In FY16/17, Lyocell Based PICA (PICA-D) was manufactured and limited testing performed showing it to be a good candidate as a potential replacement for heritage rayon ...
