Intercolony and Intra‐Annual Variations in Isotopic Niche of Red‐Footed Boobies Sula sula in the Tropical Indian Ocean

open access: yesEcological Research, Volume 41, Issue 3, May 2026.
We compared the diet and assessed geographic and seasonal variations in the isotopic niches of red‐footed boobies across three Indian Ocean atolls. Our results demonstrate plasticity in both diet and trophic niche, likely driven by local environmental conditions, breeding stages, and colony‐specific factors.

At the Right Time: Temporal Precision in Personalised Medicine

open access: yesSociology of Health &Illness, Volume 48, Issue 4, May 2026.
ABSTRACT Personalised medicine was initially heralded as delivering ‘the right drug to the right patient at the right time’. Although molecular precision has dominated recent developments, the temporal dimension has remained underexplored. This paper examines how temporal precision is emerging as a defining feature of next‐generation precision medicine,

The Development of Temporal Memory for Complex Events

open access: yesDevelopmental Science, Volume 29, Issue 3, May 2026.
ABSTRACT Remembering when past events occurred is a key component of episodic memory, yet its developmental trajectory remains only partially understood. This study examined how children aged 6 and 10, compared to young adults, recall the timing of events embedded in an 11‐min cartoon.

The Effect of the Anticonvulsant Topiramate on Acetylcholine‐Induced Calcium Signals is Linked to Sirt‐1 Activity

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Neuroscience, Volume 63, Issue 9, May 2026.
This work provides a potential new link between the anticonvulsive Topiramate, the deacetylase Sirt‐1 and the cholinergic signalling, suggesting that Topiramate may modulate cholinergic pathways in a Sirt‐1 depended manner. ABSTRACT Although some forms of epilepsy directly result from mutations in nicotinic acetylcholine receptors, none of the ...

Membrane Vesicle Formation Removes Iron Sulfide Mineral Crusts From the Cell Surface of Growing Sulfate‐Reducing Bacteria

open access: yesGeobiology, Volume 24, Issue 3, May/June 2026.
ABSTRACT Sulfate‐reducing bacteria (SRB) drive the process of sulfate reduction in low‐temperature sedimentary environments. Through the production of sulfide, they promote the formation of iron‐sulfide (Fe‐S) minerals when Fe(II) is available. The negative charge of the cell surface of bacteria can promote the binding of Fe(II), leading to the ...
