Picosecond Laser Ablation of Polyhydroxyalkanoates (PHAs): Comparative Study of Neat and Blended Material Response [PDF]
Polyhydroxyalkanoates (PHAs) have emerged as a promising biodegradable and biocompatible material for scaffold manufacturing in the tissue engineering field and food packaging. Surface modification is usually required to improve cell biocompatibility and/

Tunable operation of a gain-switched diode laser by nonresonant self-injection seeding [PDF]
In this letter, we report tunable operation of a gain-switched diode laser by nonresonant self-injection seeding from an uncoated glass slide used as an external cavity reflector.

A peak power of one terawatt has been obtained in XeCl with a pulse width of 310fs. Amplified spontaneous emission (ASE) was investigated extensively by changing the gain of wide aperture discharge amplifiers. As a result, the ASE content was suppressed to less than 3% in energy by using an appropriate spatial filter before the final amplifier along ...

Investigation of thermodynamic properties in picosecond laser-produced plasmas on silicon
The validity of local thermodynamic equilibrium (LTE) in plasma is a long-term concern for laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy applications. In this paper, the spatial and temporal dependence of LTE deviation in picosecond laser-induced plasmas has been

Multi-wavelength, all-solid-state, continuous wave mode locked picosecond Raman laser [PDF]
We demonstrate the operation of a cascaded continuous wave (CW) mode-locked Raman oscillator. The output pulses were compressed from 28 ps at 532 nm down to 6.5 ps at 559 nm (first Stokes) and 5.5 ps at 589 nm (second Stokes).

The tattoos removal has become an issue upon spread of the tattooing practice worldwide and hindsight regrets. Lasers are typically used for the purpose, though some colours such as green are considered “recalcitrant” to the treatment.
