Electrically Tunable Room‐Temperature Microwave Oscillations in GaN/AlN Triple‐Barrier Resonant Tunneling Diodes

open access: yesAdvanced Electronic Materials, Volume 12, Issue 9, 11 May 2026.
III‐nitride semiconductors have revolutionized optoelectronics, enabling transformative technologies such as high‐efficiency LEDs and lasers. However, their use in intersubband optoelectronics has remained limited. This work marks an important step forward by demonstrating highly coherent inter‐well resonant tunneling injection in III‐nitride ...

Mechanistic Insights Into Ultrasound‐Assisted Plant Stilbenes Sustainable Extraction Using Hydrophilic NADES: A Case Study of Cajaninstilbene Acid With Integrated NMR, COSMO‐RS, and MD Simulation

open access: yesFood Frontiers, Volume 7, Issue 3, May 2026.
Schematic illustration of green NADES extraction by using CSA as a model compound. ABSTRACT Stilbenes are bioactive phytochemicals with notable health benefits, yet their extraction is hindered by hydrophobicity and reliance on toxic solvents. This study introduces a green, sustainable approach for stilbene extraction using hydrophilic natural deep ...

SERS‐Based Nano‐ and Microsystems Toward Biomedical Applications

open access: yesSmall, Volume 22, Issue 28, 18 May 2026.
This review provides a current overview of nano‐ and microscale SERS‐based devices, encompassing all aspects from material design to practical applications. We highlight controlled SERS‐active architectures, including patterned substrates, nanorods, microspheres, micromotors, and microneedles, as well as combinations of these microfluidic systems.

Beam distortion detection technique for picosecond ultrasonics

open access: yesJournal of Physics: Conference Series, 2007
Beam distortion detection (BDD) technique was successfully used for the detection of picosecond longitudinal and shear acoustic pulses in micrometric metallic layers. It is optimised for the measurement of the displacement pulse shape. In this communication the application of BDD for the evaluation of displacement acoustic echoes in 250 nm tungsten ...

Picosecond ultrasonics on a single micron carbon fiber

open access: yesJournal of Physics: Conference Series, 2011
A pump-probe picosecond technique is used to reveal the opto-acoustic response of micrometric carbon fibers. Two carbon fibers having the hexagonal symmetry are experimentally studied. A dedicated experimental setup allows to generate acoustic waves that propagate in a cross section of the fiber.

Recent progress in picosecond ultrasonic process metrology [PDF]

open access: yesAIP Conference Proceedings, 2001
We discuss the use of the picosecond ultrasonics technique for characterizing several challenging processes which are common in sub-0.18 micron processes. Specific processes considered are reactive TaN, RTP-CoSi2, and damascene copper. We describe the transition from one- to two- dimensional acoustical excitations in damascene copper lines, and show ...

Generation and remote detection of THz sound using semiconductor superlattices

open access: yes, 2007
The authors introduce a novel approach to study the propagation of high frequency acoustic phonons in which the generation and detection involves two spatially separated superlattices $\sim 1 {\rm \mu m}$ apart.
