Vortices, Q-balls and Domain Walls on Dielectric M2-branes

open access: yes, 2008
We study BPS solitons in N=6 U(N) \times U(N) Chern-Simons-matter theory deformed by an F-term mass. The F-term mass generically breaks N=6 supersymmetry down to N=2.

Nano‐ and Micro‐Sized Solid Materials Used as Antiviral Agents

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Due to the rise of viral infections in humans and possible viral outbreaks, the use of nano‐ or micro‐sized materials as antiviral agents is rapidly increasing. This review explores their antiviral properties against RNA and DNA viruses, either as a prevention or a treatment tool, by delving into their mechanisms of action and how to properly assess ...

Dual‐Layer Living Hydrogel Enables On‐Demand Delivery of Phages and Probiotics for Synergistic Wound Infection Therapy

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A dual‐layer living hydrogel, ProΦGel, integrates bacteriophages and probiotics for synergistic wound infection therapy. The outer gelatin‐based matrix releases phages on demand in response to P. aeruginosa infections, while inner alginate beads sustain probiotic delivery.

Flux Stabilization of D-branes in NSNS Melvin Background

open access: yes, 2002
In this paper we reexamine the D-brane spectrum in the Melvin background with nonconstant NSNS B-field from the viewpoint of its world-volume and string world-sheet theory. We find that the stable D2-D0 bound state exists even though it does not wrap any

Programmable In‐Situ Interactions Between Resins and Photopolymerized Structures for Seamlessly Integrated Optical Manufacturing of Microlenses

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents a dynamic interaction between liquid resins and photopolymerized structures enabled by an in situ light‐writing setup. By controlling a three‐phase interface through localized photopolymerization, which provides physical confinement for the remaining uncured resin regions, the approach establishes a programmable pathway that ...

Quantum states to brane geometries via fuzzy moduli spaces of giant gravitons

open access: yes, 2012
Eighth-BPS local operators in N=4 SYM are dual to quantum states arising from the quantization of a moduli space of giant gravitons in AdS5xS5. Earlier results on the quantization of this moduli space give a Hilbert space of multiple harmonic oscillators

Nanodiamond‐Based Quantum Sensing Reveals Changes in Endo‐Lysosomal Activity of Stimulated Cardiac Fibroblasts in a Cellular Fibrosis Model

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Quantum sensing reveals intricate patterns linking endo‐lysosomal maturation to cardiac fibrosis progression, highlighting complexity in cellular remodeling. This study investigates fibroblast‐to‐myofibroblast transition under cell aging, stiffness, and TGF‐β stimulation, comparing nanodiamond uptake, endo‐lysosomal dynamics, and free radical ...

Noncommutative geometry, Quantum effects and DBI-scaling in the collapse of D0-D2 bound states

open access: yes, 2005
We study fluctuations of time-dependent fuzzy two-sphere solutions of the non-abelian DBI action of D0-branes, describing a bound state of a spherical D2-brane with N D0-branes. The quadratic action for small fluctuations is shown to be identical to that

Bio‐Inspired Magnetically Tunable Structural Colors from Elliptical Self‐Assembled Block Copolymer Microparticles

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Cephalopod‐inspired photonic microparticles with dynamic structural coloration are fabricated via confined self‐assembly of linear block copolymers into ellipsoids containing stacked lamellae. Embedded superparamagnetic nanoparticles enable rapid magnetic alignment, restoring vivid, angle‐dependent color.

Fuzzy Torus via q-Parafermion

open access: yes, 2007
We note that the recently introduced fuzzy torus can be regarded as a q-deformed parafermion. Based on this picture, classification of the Hermitian representations of the fuzzy torus is carried out.
