Aggressive Glioblastoma Cells Enhance the Migratory Persistence and Velocity of Less Aggressive Cells to Promote Tumor Dissemination

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
We identify biophysical motility parameters explaining how less aggressive EGFRwt‐overexpressing Glioblastoma cells become more infiltrative when influenced by aggressive EGFRvIII‐expressing cells. Using bulk assays and microfluidic chips, we show that EGFRvIII cells enhance velocity and persistence in EGFRwt cells via Src‐mediated communication ...

A Durable Metal–Organic Framework with a Hydrophobic sp3‐Carbon‐Rich Nanospace Constructed from Flexible Medium‐Sized Ring Ligands

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
A stable 2D metal–organic framework (MOF), which incorporates dibenzocyclooctadiene with a flexible medium‐sized ring core, has been synthesized. The moderate ring flexibility enables excellent cycling stability during repeated adsorption–desorption.

Haptic Experiences Shift Students' Representational Gestures and Knowledge Resources

open access: yesJournal of Research in Science Teaching, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The present investigation adopts an embodied cognition perspective to characterize students' learning interactions between gesture and haptic experience. Haptic technologies have emerged as a promising approach to science learning because they can simulate physical forces that students would otherwise not experience. Student‐generated gestures

Probability forecasts – Part 2: will people understand?

open access: yesWeather, EarlyView.
Ensemble weather forecasts have been in use for many years to help forecasters understand uncertainty in weather predictions but are now becoming core to some operational NWP systems. Part 1 introduced the rationale for ensemble forecasts and the production of useful forecasts.

Decreased Production of Tissue Plasminogen Activator in Endothelial Cells From Nasal Polyps

open access: yesWorld Journal of Otorhinolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Previous studies have demonstrated that chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps (CRSwNP) is characterized by excessive fibrin deposition which is related to impaired production of tissue plasminogen activator(t‐PA) by epithelial cells.

Distribution of households visited by category. The larger pie charts show the total number of households visited. Of the 19% in the STT district and 33% in the STX district that accepted to participate (smaller pie charts), 85% in the STT and 69% in the STX met protocol criteria to be included in the survey. Cisterns classified as “Other” include cisterns that were too old or damaged, access was too small, hard to coordinate a visit, among others.
