TESCLA: A Fully Soft Electromagnetic Linear Actuator With Continuous Bending Enabled by Liquid‐Metal Solenoids

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
TESCLA (tubular electromagnetic soft conformal linear actuator) combines liquid‐metal solenoids and compliant magnetic composites to achieve large‐stroke bidirectional actuation with continuous bending. Integrated inductance‐based self‐sensing enables proprioceptive position estimation without external sensors, providing a versatile platform for soft ...

Hierarchical Multi‐Material Architectures With Gradient Design for Dynamic‐Range Flexible Tactile Sensing

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Hierarchical multi‐material TPMS lattices are engineered as flexible tactile sensors by combining soft and stiff elastomeric layers with a conformal conductive coating. The bilayer architecture delivers sensitivity at low pressures while maintaining a broad detectable range under large loads, enabling reliable pressure and vibration monitoring for ...

Exponential periodic attractor of impulsive Hopfield-type neural network system with piecewise constant argument

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Qualitative Theory of Differential Equations, 2018
In this paper we study a periodic impulsive Hopfield-type neural network system with piecewise constant argument of generalized type. Under general conditions, existence and uniqueness of solutions of such systems are established using ergodicity, Green ...

Stability Analysis of Partial Differential Equations with Piecewise Constant Arguments

open access: yesAsia Pacific Journal of Mathematics, 2018
Summary: In this paper, the analytical stability of a partial differential equation with piecewise constant arguments is considered. By using the theory of separation of variables in matrix form and the Fourier method, the sufficient conditions under which the analytic solution is asymptotically stable are achieved.

Defect‐Engineered ZnO Nanowire Arrays for Flexible Room‐Temperature Hydrogen Sensors

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Fabrication process of patterned ZnO nucleation sites on a flexible polyimide (PI) substrate. Top/tilted‐view SEM images of ordered ZnO nanoflower arrays confined within patterned circular regions. AFM topography map with height data revealing a disk‐array structure, where the patterned regions (marked by a red dot circle) are elevated by ∼2 µm ...

Almost Periodic Solutions on a Class Secondorder Differential Equations with Piecewise Constant Argument

open access: yesJournal of Harbin University of Science and Technology, 2019
Almost periodic solutions of differential equations are more general than periodic solutions, so almost periodic solutions will be studied on a class secondorder differential equations with piecewise constant argument.

Chaos of the logistic equation with piecewise constant argument

open access: yes, 2010
We consider the logistic equation with different types of the piecewise constant argument. It is proved that the equation generates chaos and intermittency. Li-Yorke chaos is obtained as well as the chaos through period-doubling route. Basic plots are presented to show the complexity of the behavior.

Exponential stability of periodic solutions of recurrent neural networks with functional dependence on piecewise constant argument

open access: yes, 2018
In this study, we develop a model of recurrent neural networks with functional dependence on piecewise constant argument of generalized type. Using the theoretical results obtained for functional differential equations with piecewise constant argument ...

Continuum Mechanics Modeling of Flexible Spring Joints in Surgical Robots

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
A new mechanical model of a tendon‐actuated helical extension spring joint in surgical robots is built using Cosserat rod theory. The model can implicitly handle the unknown contacts between adjacent coils and numerically predict spring shapes from straight to significantly bent under actuation forces.
