Computing similarity between piecewise-linear functions [PDF]
We study the problem of computing the similarity between two piecewise-linear bivariate functions de ned over a common domain, where the surfaces they de ne in 3D|polyhedral terrains|can be transformed vertically by a linear transformation of the third coordinate (scaling and translation).

Current-mode piecewise-linear function generators [PDF]
We present a systematic design technique for current-mode piecewise-linear (PWL) function generators. It uses two building blocks: a high-resolution current rectifier, and a programmable current amplifier. We show how to arrange these blocks to obtain basic non-linearities from which generic characteristics are built through aggregations.

Decomposition Polyhedra of Piecewise Linear Functions [PDF]
In this paper we contribute to the frequently studied question of how to decompose a continuous piecewise linear (CPWL) function into a difference of two convex CPWL functions. Every CPWL function has infinitely many such decompositions, but for applications in optimization and neural network theory, it is crucial to find decompositions with as few ...

Two‐step, piecewise‐linear SAR ADC with programmable transfer function
A 7‐bit successive approximation register (SAR) analogue‐to‐digital converter (ADC) with programmable transfer functions is presented. Building upon prior art, a two‐step successive approximation technique is used to implement a piecewise‐linear ...

The topological entropy of iterated piecewise affine maps is uncomputable [PDF]
We show that it is impossible to compute (or even to approximate) the topological entropy of a continuous piecewise affine function in dimension four. The same result holds for saturated linear functions in unbounded dimension.

Non‐linear activation function approximation using a REMEZ algorithm
Here a more accurate piecewise approximation (PWA) scheme for non‐linear activation function is proposed. It utilizes a precision‐controlled recursive algorithm to predict a sub‐range; after that, the REMEZ algorithm is used to find the corresponding ...

Numerical simulation of FIV of PTC-cylinder with nonlinear springs at high Reynolds number
ObjectiveThis article studies the characteristics of the flow-induced vibration (FIV) of a cylinder with passive turbulence control and nonlinear springs in a wide range of Reynolds numbers in order to use the FIV of the PTC-cylinder to improve the ...
