Degradomics for large‐scale mechanistic insights on proteases and proteolysis in human health

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, EarlyView.
Proteolysis has an important role in human disease but remains relatively unexplored. Degradomics, the uncovering of proteolysis in tissues, cells, and proteins, uses mass spectrometry‐based terminomics to identify protein termini occurring therein (forward degradomics) and to define the actions of proteases (reverse degradomics).

Newly identified intervertebral fat pad degenerates after intervertebral disc injury in a rat model of degeneration

open access: yesJournal of Anatomy, EarlyView.
This study characterizes a newly‐described intervertebral fat pad (IVFP) anterior to rat IVDs, with evidence for its existence in mice and human IVDs as well. In rats, the IVFP gradually degenerated following IVD injury with changes in adipocyte size and fibrous tissue infiltration, suggesting it could play a functional role in IVD health and ...

Doble piel

open access: yes, 2009
"Este trabajo se soporta, conceptualmente, en una historia que delimita su sentido y extensión formal: las imágenes capturadas y reconstruidas reflejan la construcción y ruina provocada por el paso del tiempo y la acción humana. La forma de relato visual genera una trama, una secuencia de capas que dan lugar a otra historia, una que cada lector ...

Assessing D‐Squame as a Minimally Invasive Technique to Evaluate the Cutaneous Immune Response mRNA in a Dog Model of Canine Atopic Dermatitis

open access: yesVeterinary Dermatology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Canine atopic dermatitis (cAD) is a multifactorial, inherited skin disease, estimated to affect ≤ 15% of dogs. Studies of skin messenger mRNA in cAD currently use invasive methods, including blood sampling and biopsy collection, whilst advances in human atopic dermatitis study methodology have demonstrated reliable use of minimally ...

Tolerability and Feasibility of Minimally Invasive Canine Skin Sampling: Excellent Tolerability Meets Transcriptomic Challenges

open access: yesVeterinary Dermatology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Advances in transcriptomics have driven the demand for minimally invasive, reproducible and high‐yield skin sampling methods, particularly for studying inflammatory skin diseases in companion animals. Hypothesis/Objectives We tested tolerability, feasibility and RNA quantity and quality of three minimally invasive skin sampling ...

Piel/herida

open access: yesTópicos del Seminario, 2016
Para una semiótica del cuerpo interesada en los conceptos de “marca” y de “huella”, la manifestación de la piel en la obra de arte puede ofrecer un espacio fecundo de reflexión.
