Cohesive properties of noble metals by van der Waals-corrected Density Functional Theory
The cohesive energy, equilibrium lattice constant, and bulk modulus of noble metals are computed by different van der Waals-corrected Density Functional Theory methods, including vdW-DF, vdW-DF2, vdW-DF-cx, rVV10 and PBE-D.

Spectral stability for a class of fourth order Steklov problems under domain perturbations [PDF]
We study the spectral stability of two fourth order Steklov problems upon domain perturba- tion. One of the two problems is the classical DBS\u2014Dirichlet Biharmonic Steklov\u2014problem, the other one is a variant. Under a comparatively weak condition

Log Jams at a Bridge with a Pier and a Bridge without Pier
AbstractA flume experiment was carried out in a rectangular flume in order to investigate interaction between two different model bridges and logs from the viewpoint of flood disaster prevention. Logs is assumed representative of flowing wood during floods. The model bridge with a pier and model bridge without pier were used as an obstruction in rivers.

Innovative Design of Continuous Rigid Frame Bridges with High Piers and Large Spans in Mountainous Areas [PDF]
High-pier large-span continuous rigid frame bridges in mountainous areas with high-intensity earthquakes are characterized by large variations in pier height, heavy weight of the upper structure, and large seismic forces.

Abstract After a blossoming pre‐World War II (WWII) period, the concrete construction industry in then‐socialist Hungary existed in a relative isolation from the Western World during the mid‐20th century. In this paper, we focus on the body of work of one of the then newly established state‐owned design offices, IPARTERV, to show how the isolation ...

Concrete in architecture: Redefining form, space, function, and insights from bibliometric analysis
Abstract Concrete has become a cornerstone in architectural and engineering innovation, as it seamlessly integrates structural performance with artistic expression. Its evolution from ancient opus caementicium to contemporary ultra‐high‐performance concrete illustrates its adaptability to the change in technological, environmental, and design paradigms.
