Analysis of Beams with Piezoelectric Actuators
Applied Mathematics and Mechanics, 2001Based on the two-dimensional constitutive relationships of the piezoelectric material, an analytical solution for an intelligent beam excited by a pair of piezoelectric actuators is derived. With the solution the force and moment generated by two piezoelectric actuators and a pair of piezoelectric actuator/sensor are obtained.

Load dynamics in piezoelectric actuation
2009 European Control Conference (ECC), 2009High control performance is essential in many precision positioning applications, such as control of the vertical sample position in a atomic-force microscope (AFM). This paper investigates the impact of load flexibility on piezoelectrically actuated positioning systems in terms of control performance.

On the Nonlinear Behavior of Piezoelectric Actuators
Journal of Vibration and Control, 2004In this paper we present a theoretical and experimental study of the nonlinear behavior of piezoelectric actuators. The nonlinearities are introduced as quadratic terms in the piezoelectric constitutive relations. These relations are employed, together with supporting experimental results, to establish an engineering description of the nonlinearities ...

Piezoelectric torsional actuator
Ferroelectrics, 1994Piezoelectric torsional actuators have been developed from single ceramic cylindrical bodies using PZT based high d constant piezoelectric ceramics. The actuator geometry is able to produce rotational motion directly by DC voltage control without conventional complex conversion from XY direction motions.

Piezoelectric dispenser based on a piezoelectric-metal-cavity actuator
Review of Scientific Instruments, 2009A piezoelectric dispenser has been fabricated based on the idea of a piezoelectric-metal-cavity (PMC) actuator. The PMC actuator consists of a metal ring sandwiched between two identical piezoelectric unimorphs. The radial contraction of the piezoelectric ceramic is converted into a flextensional motion of the unimorph, causing a large flexural ...
