Sensor effectiveness coefficients for piezoelectric materials
Proceedings of 1995 American Control Conference - ACC'95, 2005Two piezoelectric sensor effectiveness coefficients that provide a quantitative measure of effectiveness for piezoelectric materials which are being used for sensing strain (voltage sensor), or strain-rate (current sensor) are introduced. The use of these coefficients for selecting sensor materials is illustrated through a numerical example.

Mechanical, optical, and electromechanical investigations were performed on a series of induced cholesteric elastomers. These elastomers are swollen with a chiral low molar mass liquid crystal and exhibit a mechanical coupling coefficient U that is of the same order of magnitude as that for nonswollen nematic elastomers.

Material nonlinear piezoelectric coefficients for quartz
Journal of Applied Physics, 1983An electroelastic or polarizing effect can be used to obtain material nonlinear pizoelectric or electroelastic coefficients. It is shown that these material coefficients, obtained from general rotationally invariant nonlinear equations for small field superposed on a bias, differ from those obtained by using the phenomenological expansion of the ...

A measurement and analysis technique has been developed to quantify the complex contributions to the nonlinear dielectric and converse piezoelectric response in ferroelectric ceramics. The electric field dependent response was quantified in two important bulk ceramic piezoelectric systems, Pb(Zr1−x,Tix)O3 and (1−x)BiScO3–xPbTiO3 (BS-PT), at low ...

Evaluation of the property coefficients of piezoelectric polymers
The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1989Analytical models are presented for evaluating the property coefficients of thick-film piezoelectric polymers. In particular, these models facilitate the evaluation of the complex elastic compliance coefficients ŝ1′1′D, ŝ12D, ŝ22D, ŝ33D, and ŝ66D from the measured set of quantities {fm,fl,fn,Al,An}, where fm is the resonance frequency of the test ...
