Piezoelectric polymer cylindrical hydrophone [PDF]

open access: bronzeThe Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1978
An electroacoustic transducer which uses polyvinylidene fluoride (PVF2) as the piezoelectric element is investigated for its suitability as an acceleration insensitive hydrophone. The fundamental construction concept involves attaching concentric layers of PVF2 to a mechanically compatible end-capped cylinder.

Lightweight piezoelectric polymer hydrophones [PDF]

open access: bronzeThe Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1978
Low-density piezoelectric polymer hydrophones were designed for towed arrays where weight is important. Flexural mode designs consisted of two strips of polymer glued to air-backed rectangular flexural plates made of plastic or metal capable of hydrostatic pressures to 4 MPa.

Eliminating surface cracks in metal film-polymer substrate for reliable flexible piezoelectric devices

open access: diamondEngineering Science and Technology, an International Journal
In a flexible piezoelectric-metal-polymer device, the occurrence of surface cracks in metal-polymer interface may cause unstable metal connections, unreliable piezoelectric yield, poor passivation behaviour and metal electrode delamination. In this study,
