Moss‐Accumulated eDNA Is a Promising Source for Terrestrial Biodiversity Surveys Across the Tree of Life and Biomes

open access: yesMolecular Ecology Resources, Volume 26, Issue 1, January 2026.
ABSTRACT Developments in the environmental DNA (eDNA) field have revolutionised our ability to map biodiversity by providing cost‐effective and non‐invasive means to survey organisms across the tree of life. In the terrestrial realm, a variety of eDNA sources have been employed, but we lack easily accessible and cosmopolitan sources of terrestrial eDNA.

Body Temperature Regulation in the Rat by Muscle Tone

open access: yesActa Physiologica, Volume 242, Issue 1, January 2026.
ABSTRACT Aim We have previously described an important role of skeletal muscle tone in body temperature regulation, muscle tone defined as the tonic motor unit activity recorded between movements. Here, we study muscle tone in an extensive sample of new muscles outside (external muscles) and inside (internal muscles) the body core.

No Evidence for Agent−Patient Role Attribution in Human Infants, Human Adults, and Guinea Baboons (Papio papio)

open access: yesCognitive Science, Volume 50, Issue 1, January 2026.
Abstract Languages describe “who is doing what to whom” by distinguishing the event roles of agent (doer) and patient (undergoer), but it is debated whether they result from nonlinguistic representations that may already exist in preverbal infants and nonhuman animals. Abstract When world prices of maize and wheat doubled between early 2020 and mid‐2022, it was feared the increases would transmit to markets in the Global South, threatening the food security of vulnerable people. We report studies conducted in Mali, northeast Nigeria, Sudan, and northern Uganda to examine changes in the prices of cereals, their ...
