Monitoring of pigeon paramyxovirus type-1 in organs of pigeons naturally infected withSalmonellaTyphimurium

open access: yesAvian Pathology, 2003
An experimental pigeon paramyxovirus (pPMV-1) infection was followed by reverse transcription-nested polymerase chain reaction for 31 days after infection, in 16 organs of inoculated or contact pigeons naturally infected with Salmonella Typhimurium. With two exceptions, both groups presented similar results.

Characterization and Epidemiology of Pigeon Paramyxovirus Type-1 Viruses (PPMV-1) Isolated in Macedonia

Avian Diseases, 2017
We have characterized in this study 10 PPMV-1 isolated from domestic pigeons and one PPMV-1 isolated from a feral pigeon in the period 2007-2012, using both classical methods (HI test and ICPI test) and molecular methods (RT-qPCR, RT-PCR, and nucleotide sequencing).

Quasispecies Nature of an Unusual Avian Paramyxovirus Type-1 Isolated from Pigeons

open access: yesVirus Genes, 2005
An avian paramyxovirus type-1 (APMV-1) was classified as virulent according to its Intra Cerebral Pathogenicity Index (ICPI), but as avirulent according to the motif of its F protein cleavage site. Although this atypical APMV-1 was isolated from sick, unvaccinated pigeons, it was not grouped with pigeon variants regarding its antigenic and genetic ...

Identification of host cell proteins that interact with the M protein of Pigeon paramyxovirus type 1

Protein Expression and Purification, 2022
Pigeon paramyxovirus type 1 (PPMV-1) belongs to the avian paramyxovirus type 1 group of viruses, which can cause tremors, torticollis, and respiratory signs in domestic and wild pigeons. The M protein of PPMV-1 is a multifunctional structural protein. It not only helps in the assembly, budding, and positioning of the virus but also inhibits the host's ...

Emergence of a deviating genotype VI pigeon paramyxovirus type-1 isolated from India

open access: yesArchives of Virology, 2017
Pigeon paramyxovirus type 1 (PPMV-1) is an antigenic variant of avian paramyxovirus type 1 (APMV-1), which infects pigeons. The virus causes high morbidity and mortality, creating an alarming state for the poultry industry. The present work describes the molecular and pathogenic characterization of a PPMV-1 strain isolated from pigeon in Bhopal, India.

Molecular Characterisation of Three Avian Paramyxovirus Type 1 Isolated from Pigeons in France

open access: yesVirus Genes, 2003
Three avian Paramyxovirus type 1 (aPMV-1) isolated from pigeons duringpigeon paramyxovirosis outbreaks were molecularly characterised by sequencing parts of the six genes (NP, P, M, F, HN and L) of each strain. Virulent 99143 isolate was found to be very closely related to non-pathogenic vaccine strains of aPMV-1, even for its F protein cleavage site ...

What's in a strain? Viral metagenomics identifies genetic variation and contaminating circoviruses in laboratory isolates of pigeon paramyxovirus type 1

open access: yesVirus Research, 2013
<p>We used next generation sequencing on random amplified viral nucleic acids to determine the genome sequence of 11 pigeon paramyxovirus type 1 (PPMV-1) isolates from Belgium (period 1998-2011). The PPMV-1 deep sequence data allowed identification

Paramyxovirus type 1 infections of racing pigeons: 1 characterisation of isolated viruses

Veterinary Record, 1984
Viruses isolated from field outbreaks of disease in racing pigeons in continental Europe and Great Britain were shown to be identical by serological tests using conventional chicken antisera and mouse monoclonal antibodies. The pigeon viruses showed high levels of cross-reaction to Newcastle disease virus (NDV) in haemagglutination inhibition tests and

Avian paramyxovirus type 1 infections of racing pigeons: 2 pathogenicity experiments in pigeons and chickens

Veterinary Record, 1984
Pathogenicity index tests on 40 paramyxovirus type 1 viruses isolated from field cases of disease in racing pigeons produced a close grouping of the values obtained in intracerebral pathogenicity index ( ICPI ) tests in day-old chicks (mean 1.48, range 1.28 to 1.76) but a much greater variation in intravenous pathogenicity indices ( IVPI ) in six-week ...

Paramyxovirus Type 1 Infection in Pigeons

1986
Newcastle disease (ND) is a severe disease of poultry but other species of birds can be infected including domestic pigeons and doves (Vindevogel et al., 1972; Mousa et al., 1982; Sabban et al., 1982).
