Adaptive piggybacking: a novel technique for data sharing in video-on-demand storage servers
Multimedia Systems, 1996Recent technology advances have made multimedia on-demand services, such as home entertainment and home-shopping, important to the consumer market. Orthotopic liver transplantation is a well-known and widely applied codified procedure. Milestones of the standard technique are the use of the veno– venous bypass (1, 2), and the resection, en bloc with the liver, of the retrohepatic vena cava (3–5). Since its original description by Starzl (3–4), many modifications of the original technique have been

[Reconstruction of the venous outflow in liver transplantation using the "piggyback" technique].
Rozhledy v chirurgii : mesicnik Ceskoslovenske chirurgicke spolecnosti, 1999The piggyback technique in venous outflow tract reconstruction has been proposed as an alternative to the conventional technique in liver transplantation. Between November 1994 and November 1997 this technique was used in 29 patients in our institute.

[The piggyback technique in venous outflow tract reconstruction in liver transplantation].
Rozhledy v chirurgii : mesicnik Ceskoslovenske chirurgicke spolecnosti, 2003Nowadays, the piggyback technique of venous outflow tract reconstruction has been adopted by an increasing number of transplant teams. From January 1996 to August 2000, we used it in 73 of 84 liver transplantations (86.9%) in our institution. We observed one postoperative complication (1.4%) in direct relation to this technique.
