Dielectric and Gate Metal Engineering for Threshold Voltage Modulation in Enhancement Mode Monolayer MoS2 Field Effect Transistors

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Enhancement‐mode monolayer MoS2 FETs with low threshold voltage are essential for low‐power electronics. The threshold voltage can be tuned by the gate metal work function when the semiconductor/dielectric interface is clean. Interfaces between monolayer MoS2 and ZrO2 or hBN allow effective work‐function modulation of the threshold voltage, in contrast

Lake and Modern Architecture : Drought in Switzerland, Pile Dwellings, and Pilotis

open access: yesLake and Modern Architecture : Drought in Switzerland, Pile Dwellings, and Pilotis
Theme I : Nature And Design In 1854, Switzerland suffered from severe drought. Lake Zurich’s water level was extremely low, and the lakebed, which is normally hidden under the water, was visible. These circumstances enabled the discovery of countless piles situated at the bottom of Lake Zurich.

Settling Waterscapes in Europe. The Archaeology of Neolithic & Bronze Age Pile-Dwellings

open access: yes, 2020
Pile dwellings have been explored over a vast region for a number of decades now. This has led to the development of different ways, methods, and even schools of underwater and peat-bog excavation practices and data analysis techniques under the influence of different research traditions in individual countries. On the one hand, these and other factors

Photocatalytic Water Splitting on the Lunar Surface: Prospects for In Situ Resource Utilization

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
Water has been found in craters on the moon nearby locations which are illuminated >80% of the time. Photocatalysis uses energy from sunlight to drive chemical reactions such as water splitting to produce oxygen and hydrogen. It is a scalable technology that requires lighter equipment and utilizes resources available on the moon. ABSTRACT The discovery

Investigation of Structural, Mechanical and Electrochemical Properties of Temperature‐Dependent Dual AlN/TiAlN Coating Synthesized by CVD Process

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
This study investigates thermally CVD‐deposited AlN/TiAlN dual‐layer coatings over a Si substrate, focusing on the temperature‐dependent process‐structure relationship. Systematic characterization reveals that a dense AlN interlayer combined with an optimally deposited TiAlN top layer provides enhancement in mechanical strength, tribological stability,

Ultrafast Photocatalytic Wettability Switching in Substrate‐Interface Tailored Titanium Dioxide Thin Films

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates ultrafast photocatalytic wettability switching in TiO2 thin films by tailoring substrate doping and interface oxides. Enhanced switching rates and hemiwicking effects are achieved through optimized material stacks and nanostructuring.
