ML Workflows for Screening Degradation‐Relevant Properties of Forever Chemicals
The environmental persistence of per‐ and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) necessitates efficient remediation strategies. This study presents physics‐informed machine learning workflows that accurately predict critical degradation properties, including bond dissociation energies and polarizability.

Determining Soil Stress beneath a Tire: Measurements and Simulations
This study measured soil stress underneath a rolling wheel by using two different types of sensors: a load cell type probe referred to as an Arvidsson probe to read vertical soil stress and a fluid inclusion type sensor referred to as a Bolling probe to ...

Foliar spraying of CS‐CDs can form a film on the leaves of Brassica rapa, effectively reducing the enrichment and absorption of PS in the leaves, while increasing the biomass and nutrient content of the plants. In addition, CS‐CDs can also enrich the interfoliar microbial community and activate the plant's own defense metabolic pathways.

Extra Climate Benefits From Afforestation Due to Reduced Forest Fragmentation in China
Afforestation in China reduced forest fragmentation in 2015, transforming 51.8 M ha of edge forests into interior forests. This enhanced carbon sequestration (1.4±0.2 Pg CO2e, a cooling biogeochemical effect), while reduced albedo (−0.9 Pg CO2e, a warming biophysical effect) partially offset the gain, yielding a net extra climate benefit of ...

Model Studies of Lateral Soil Pressure on Drilling Piles in Dry and Saturated Sands
The results of a model study of single piles shaft bearing capacity in dry and saturated sandy soils are presented. The effect of loading rate on pile shaft capacity was investigated. The shaft bearing capacities of the piles were determined by pile load

This perspective proposes a cohesive machine learning strategy to decode microplastic aging. It advocates for Federated Learning to dismantle global data silos and introduces the TRACE framework (TRansport, Aging, Corona, Ecotoxicity). By integrating physics‐informed modeling with causal discovery, this approach bridges the laboratory‐field gap to ...

The investigation of tube sampling disturbance using transparent soil and particle image velocimetry [PDF]
A small-scale physical modelling system was developed and employed to investigate the effects of tube sampling. Amorphous silica and an oil blend of matching refractive index were mixed to form a transparent soil.
