The Problem of Pile Group–Pile Cap Interaction

Synopsis The Paper presents an elastic analysis of two problems concerning the interaction with the supporting ground of an arbitrarily spaced group of piles, embedded in a smooth ground contacting pile cap of any shape, namely the load displacement behaviour of the system and the load distribution between the piles in the group and the cap.

Pile‐Cap‐Pile‐Group Interaction in Nonhomogeneous Soil

A numerical method of analysis is presented to study the behavior of vertically loaded pile groups embedded in a nonhomogencous soil with the pile caps in contact with the ground. The considered soil profiles consist of soil with Young's moduli increasing linearly with depth.

Simulated Seismic Load Tests on Prestressed Concrete Piles and Pile-Pile Cap Connections

The results of tests conducted in New Zealand on prestressed concrete piles and pile-pile cap connections subjected to simulated seismic loading are summarized. The piles were of prestressed pretensioned concrete with a 400 mm (15.7 in.) octagonal cross section and contained spiral reinforcement. The pile caps were of reinforced concrete.
