Abstract The objective of this research was to study the mechanical behavior of pile caps on two steel piles submitted to centered loading with different arrangements of the connection between pile and pile cap, as well as evaluate analytical models found in the technical literature. A numerical analysis of a pile cap on two steel piles was performed

CFD investigation of the cap effects on wave loads on piles for the pile-cap foundation
Ocean Engineering, 2019Abstract The cap effects on the wave forces acting on the piles underneath the cap are important for the estimation of the wave loads on the elevated pile-cap foundations of sea-crossing bridges. Full scale 3-dimensional numerical simulations are carried out for large square caps with piles placed at different locations underneath.

Pile Cap-Pile Group-Soil Interaction
Journal of the Structural Division, 1981A numerical procedure based on the finite element method is proposed for the analysis of structural systems composed of beam-column (pile), plate (cap) and nonlinear springs (soil). It integrates one-and two-dimensional idealizations for these components in order to obtain an approximation to the three-dimensional problem.

Pile‐Cap‐Pile‐Group Interaction in Nonhomogeneous Soil
Journal of Geotechnical Engineering, 1991A numerical method of analysis is presented to study the behavior of vertically loaded pile groups embedded in a nonhomogencous soil with the pile caps in contact with the ground. The considered soil profiles consist of soil with Young's moduli increasing linearly with depth.
