HfxZr1−xO2${\rm Hf}_x{\rm Zr}_{1-x}{\rm O}_2$ offers CMOS‐compatible nanoscale ferroelectricity yet suffers from a high Ec${\rm E}_c$ demanding large operating voltages. A unified phase‐field framework spanning AFE/FE/DE phases shows how FE grains soften neighboring AFE grains over λ$\lambda$ ≈$\approx$ 22–37 nm.

An Integral Abutment Bridge with Precast Concrete Piles;TR-438, May 2007 [PDF]
The use of precast, prestressed concrete piles in the foundation of bridge piers has long been recognized as a valuable option for bridge owners and designers. However, the use of these precast, prestressed concrete piles in integral abutment bridges has

Load Distributing Metamaterials Via Discrete Optimization
Mechanical metamaterials are computationally optimized to homogenize transmitted forces by minimizing the spread of reaction forces. The resulting architectures transform localized loading into broader, more uniform force distributions and experimentally demonstrate robust load spreading under quasi‐static and impact loading.

Spin‐orbit torque controls the Néel vector of antiferromagnetic IrMn3, which selectively exchange‐couples with spins of Co only in the ferrimagnetic CoGd. This selective interfacial pinning induces the non‐collinear spiral spin configuration, leading to a non‐uniform distribution of local compensation temperature along the film thickness, and enabling ...

Shear capacity of reinforced concrete pile caps
Reinforced concrete pile caps may be considered to act either as deep beams, or analogous to a truss. When designed as a deep beam, there is currently a contradiction in the shear design between two UK structural engineering codes of practice – the ...

Research on time-dependent behavior of rock-socketed pile group based on FEM-BEM coupling method
For time-dependent behavior of rock-socketed pile groups, the finite element method is utilized to discretize the pile group into single pile and pile elements, and the global stiffness matrix equation of the pile group can be obtained by assembling pile
