An Assessment of the Dendrochronological Potential on the Submerged Prehistoric Pile-dwelling in Zambratija Bay within the Wider Context of Prehistoric Pile-dwellings in Croatia

open access: yes, 2023

A Long‐Lived Human Neurovascular PENTA Culture Model Captures Incomplete Vascular Repair and Glia‐Associated Signaling After Traumatic Brain Injury

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
A long‐lived, five‐cell‐type human neurovascular (PENTA) model recreates vascular disorganization and incomplete repair after traumatic brain injury (TBI). By integrating endothelial, glial, neuronal, and immune components within a 3D scaffold, the platform enables time‐resolved analysis of neurovascular remodeling and provides a human‐relevant system ...

Wood from prehistoric pile dwellings at Ljubljansko barje, Slovenia, and its research potential

open access: yes, 2015

Neutrophil‐Mimetic MRI Enables Ultra‐Early Detection of Vascular Inflammation After Stroke

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
In this study, we developed neutrophil‐mimetic MRI probes that detect ultra‐early neuroinflammation following ischemic stroke by targeting E‐selectin. Within seconds of their injection, these microparticles mimic initial leukocyte adhesion to the activated cerebral endothelium.

Pile dwellers of the Ljubljana Moors as a social subject in the 5th grade of the nine-year elementary school [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Pile dwellers inhabited the area of Ljubljana Marshes, which was then a lake, between the mid fifth and mid second millennia BC. They built the villages and houses on wooden piles, hammered into the ground, usually on the periphery of the lake. They were

Matrix Stiffness Directs Stemness Signatures in Breast Cancer

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
We built lab‐grown breast cancer models to study how the stiffness of the tumor's surroundings influences cancer behavior. Softer environments encouraged more stem‐like, drug‐resistant cells, while stiffer ones kept cells more differentiated. These findings show that tissue mechanics drive cancer diversity and drug resistance, offering new insights for

Mixed‐Metal Promotion in a Manganese‐Molybdenum Oxynitride as Catalyst to Integrate C─C and C─N Coupling Reactions for the Direct Synthesis of Acetonitrile from Syngas and Ammonia

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Transition metal oxy/carbo‐nitrides show great promise as catalysts for sustainable processes. A Mn‐Mo mixed‐metal oxynitride attains remarkable performance for the direct synthesis of acetonitrile, an important commodity chemical, via sequential C─N and C─C coupling from syngas (C1) and ammonia (N1) feedstocks.

Studying habitats and dynamical interaction in Neolithic Europe through the material culture of pile dwellings

open access: yes, 2014
The Early Neolithic in Europe is one of the most dynamic and significant periods of prehistory. However, there are still many questions waiting to be answered.

Dendrochronological investigations into the pile-dwelling settlements of the Ljubljana Marshes - the situation in 2001 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
The results are presented of dendrochronological research at six prehistoric pile-dwelling settlements of the Ljubljana Moor in 1995-2001. With the aid of 13 radiocarbon dated chronologies of the annual ring widths, the most reliable absolute ...
