Em artigo recente (Hewlett, 1988) apresenta-se um método para, tendo em conta o "efeito de arco", calcular a eficilncia das estacas numa fundação em estacaria de um aterro sobre solo mole. Apontam-se no presente trabalho comentários críticos às bases do método proposto. Apresenta-se também uma proposta para estudar o punçoamento do aterro pelas estacas.
