Osteoid osteoma in the physis of calcaneum in a preadolescent - A rare case report

Many of the plant species present in wetlands that are vulnerable to development were absent from wetland mitigation banks. Policies intended to ensure equivalence between impacted wetlands and banks did not ensure protection of biodiversity. If preservation of taxonomic diversity is to be a goal of offsetting, offset policies will need to ensure that ...

In degraded woodlands, a combination of canopy thinning, removal of non‐native woody plants and reintroduction of fire, often help to restore the herbaceous plant community. We tested whether the addition of a native seed mix leads to improved outcomes compared to passive recovery alone.

Abstract Globally, temperate deciduous forests are threatened by invasion of non‐native (exotic) plant species. In the eastern United States, Rosa multiflora is a dominant shrub invader in forests, which often forms dense thickets that reduce sunlight availability in the understory, where decreased native plant diversity and abundance are observed ...

Pest categorisation of Nipaecoccus viridis
Abstract The EFSA Panel on Plant Health performed a pest categorisation of Nipaecoccus viridis (Hemiptera: Sternorrhyncha: Pseudococcidae), the spherical scale, for the EU. It is of Asian origin and occurs widely in southern Asia, Africa and tropical Australia. It has been introduced to a few countries in the Americas.

Efficacy and cost of four plant-derived, natural herbicides for certified organic agriculture. [PDF]
After three seasons of repeated applications, active ingredients capric and caprylic acid and d‐limonene reduced early season perennial weed cover compared with hand weeding and a do‐nothing control. Abstract BACKGROUND Weed management is the greatest production challenge for most certified organic farmers, with few herbicides allowed on organic farms.

Abstract Vertical leaf angles and their variation through time are directly related to several ecophysiological processes and properties. However, there is no efficient method for tracking leaf angles of plant canopies under field conditions. Here, we present AngleCam, a deep learning‐based approach to predict leaf angle distributions from horizontal ...

Biology and Management of Pilea microphylla (Artillery Weed) in Ornamental Crop Production
This 5-page fact sheet describes the biology and management of Pilea microphylla, or artillery weed, for ornamental crop production. Artillery weed occurs primarily in moist, disturbed areas and is thought to be native to South America and parts of ...

Biotic carbon feedbacks in a materially-closed soil-vegetation-atmosphere system [PDF]
The magnitude and direction of the coupled feedbacks between the biotic and abiotic components of the terrestrial carbon cycle is a major source of uncertainty in coupled climate–carbon-cycle models1, 2, 3.
