A Pilgrimage of Bones

In the limestone-shaded recesses of the Caves Branch Rockshelter (CBR) of Central Belize, bioarchaeologists uncovered the fragmented, fragile skeletal remains of an older female (Burial 99). The modified shape of her cranium, molded and elongated when she was a young child, indicated that she likely died during the Late Classic (AD 699–900).
