SUMMARYThe chance seeing of a case of pili annulati provided an occasion for reviewing the salient features of this condition. Previous observation that the abnormal areas disappear after exposure to weak alkali on a glass microscopic slide was confirmed.Electron microscopic examination of hair samples from the young man and his elder sister suggests ...

Pili torti is a rare anomaly of the hair which is characterized by a twisting of each hair through 180 degrees along its long axis, giving each hair the appearance of a corkscrew. The tortuosities may be tightly or loosely bound and may be at varying distances from each other. The hairs are sparse, unkempt, dull and fragile.

Report on a 10 year-old girl with pili anulati. Clinical and microscopical findings of that maldevelopment of hair are described. Interestingly, an episodical alopecia totalis and subsequent regrow exhibiting different hair color was observable. Genealogical search confirmed autosomal dominant genetics. The question of expressivity of that dominant gen
