Catalysis Reviews, 1988
Abstract Clays have long been used as catalysts [1] and they retain a continuing important role since they constitute the matrix of many industrial catalysts based on zeolites. Intercalated clays are a new class of materials, in which an homogeneous distribution of micropores can be obtained with pore openings varying from 4 A to 18 A according to the ...

Propylene oligomerization with pillared clays
Journal of Molecular Catalysis, 1985Abstract Pillared-clays, when used to oligomerize propylene in a fixed bed isothermal reactor operating at 30 – 50 atm, appear to be less active than zeolite omega and an amorphous aluminosilicate (with 78% SiO 2 and 22% Al 2 O 3 ) catalyst, but have higher selectivity for gasoline production; formation of alkylated cyclopentane saturates was ...

Chapter 7.5 Pillared Clays and Clay Minerals
2006Publisher Summary This chapter summarizes the vast volume of literature on (cationic) clay minerals that has accumulated over the past 30 years. A lot of fundamental work was realized in these three past decades on pillared interlayered clays (PILC), particularly with Al-pillared smectites.

Infrared and Raman Spectroscopies of Pillared Clays
2017This chapter reviews the application of vibration spectroscopy to the study of pillared interlayer clay minerals, or more commonly, pillared clays. Infrared (IR) and Raman spectroscopies have proven useful in assessing pillared clay structural properties and compositions, and have also proven to be highly complementary to X-ray diffraction and nuclear ...

This review is concerned with the synthesis and physical-chemical characteristics of a specific type of modified clay material: Ti-PILCs. The two general synthetic procedures and the main problems associated with the scale-up synthesis of these pillared materials are discussed in detail. The general characteristics of Ti-PILCs in terms of basal spacing,

Preparation of Thermalstable Pillared Clays
1993RE-AlPILCs have been prepared by three different methods and the variations in properties with respect to the parent clay studied through various phisicochemical technics. The catalytic activity has been tested in n-heptane, h-isomerization and h-craking in the 200-400-degrees-C interval at atmospheric pressure.
