The X-Files : aux frontières du fantastique
This article proposes an analysis of a major science-fiction series of the 1990s, The X-Files (Fox, 1993-2002 / 2016-2018), and of the way it incorporates the notion of the fantastic.

Adaptive Pilot Clustering in Heterogeneous Massive MIMO Networks [PDF]
We consider the uplink of a cellular massive MIMO network. Acquiring channel state information at the base stations (BSs) requires uplink pilot signaling. Since the number of orthogonal pilot sequences is limited by the channel coherence, pilot reuse across cells is necessary to achieve high spectral efficiency.

Exploiting Spatial Correlation for Pilot Reuse in Single-Cell mMTC [PDF]
As a key enabler for massive machine-type communications (mMTC), spatial multiplexing relies on massive multiple-input multiple-output (mMIMO) technology to serve the massive number of user equipments (UEs). To exploit spatial multiplexing, accurate channel estimation through pilot signals is needed.

On Hybrid Pilot for Channel Estimation in Massive MIMO Uplink [PDF]
This paper introduces a hybrid pilot-aided channel estimation technique for mitigating the effect of pilot contamination for the uplink of multi-cell multiuser massive MIMO systems. The proposed hybrid pilot is designed such that it enjoys the complementary advantages between time-multiplexed (TM) pilot and time-superimposed (TS) pilot, and thereby ...

On Reusing Pilots Among Interfering Cells in Massive MIMO [PDF]
Pilot contamination, caused by the reuse of pilots among interfering cells, remains as a significant obstacle that limits the performance of massive multi-input multi-output antenna systems. To handle this problem, less aggressive reuse of pilots involving allocation of additional pilots for interfering users is closely examined in this paper ...

Pilot Study in Qualitative Research: The Roles and Values
A pilot or preliminary study is referred to a small-scale of a complete survey or a pretest for a particular research instrument such as a questionnaire or interview guide (1). Pilot studies could be conducted in qualitative, quantitative, and even mixed
