Anti-dazzling protection for Air Force pilots
SPIE Proceedings, 2012Under certain conditions, laser directed at aircraft can be a hazard. The most likely scenario is when a bright visible laser causes distraction or temporary flash blindness to a pilot, during a critical phase of flight such as landing or takeoff. It is also possible, that a visible or invisible beam could cause permanent harm to a pilot's eyes.

Pilot-wire protection of transmission lines
Electrical Engineering, 1960THE PRESENT pilot-wire protective systems for transmission lines employing leased pilot-wire circuits are an outgrowth of conventional differential protective systems for other types of electric apparatus. Thus, these line-protective systems are characterized by the fact that the pilot wires are part of the differential connection between the current ...

Impedance-Differential Protection: A New Approach to Transmission-Line Pilot Protection
IEEE Transactions on Power Delivery, 2015Differential protection is able to provide the most selective protection compared with other protective schemes. In this paper, a new differential scheme is proposed for pilot protection of transmission lines. The concept of differential impedance ( ${\rm Z}_{\rm diff}$ ) is introduced using the synchronous voltages and currents of both terminals of

Circulating-current pilot-wire differential protection system
Proceedings of the Institution of Electrical Engineers, 1967A circulating-current a.c. pilot-wire differential protection scheme is described in which compensation is provided for the phase shift of the fundamental-frequency signals transmitted over the pilot-wire circuit. Alternative relay characteristics are considered, with particular reference to the desirability of maintaining simultaneous tripping of ...

Novel wavelet approach to current differential pilot relay protection
2003 IEEE Power Engineering Society General Meeting (IEEE Cat. No.03CH37491), 2002Summary form only given. This paper describes a novel technique for current differential pilot relay protection (CDPR) by using wavelet analysis. PSCAD is used to generate current signals at both ends of a transmission line in a typical system with fault at various locations.

Customized Pilot Cervical Spine Protection Orthosis Development
Proceedings of the Vertical Flight Society 80th Annual ForumPilots and crew of rotary-wing aircraft can be exposed to inertial and task position stressors that generate pain. Repeated painful exposures with or without tissue damage are precursors to pain sensitization and chronic pain. Chronic pain leads to reduced operational readiness and long-term medical treatment. This study investigated protection

Protective Relaying Systems Using Pilot-Wire Channels
Transactions of the American Institute of Electrical Engineers. Part III: Power Apparatus and Systems, 1960This paper has presented a variety of pilot-wire relaying systems. Each has its field of application which is influenced by technical and economic factors, as listed in the previous section. In many cases, particularly where tapped or multiterminal lines are concerned, combinations of the various systems will be necessary for high-speed simultaneous ...

Pilot Studies for Groundwater Protection in Czechoslovakia
1981Abstract Pilot studies have been carried out as a part of Hydrocarbon Pollution Prevention Project in the years 1977 to 1980. Section of Mesozoic basin, with overall resources exceeding 6000 1 pro sec. has been selected. Groundwater is bound to sandstones with shallow unconfined aquifer.
