Structural analysis of embryogenesis ofLeiarius marmoratus(Siluriformes: Pimelodidae)

Zygote, 2014
SummaryEmbryological studies in fish species are useful to the understanding of their biology and systematics. The available biological data inLeiarius marmoratusare scarce and additional information about its reproductive biology is needed, mainly because this species has been commercially exploited and used in production of hybrid lineages.

The Karyotypic Diversification of Calophysines and the Exallodontus-Propimelodus Clade (Pimelodidae, Siluriformes): A Cytotaxonomic and Evolutionary Approach in Pimelodidae Based on Ancestral State Reconstruction

Zebrafish, 2019
Pimelodidae family is one of the most diverse and widely distributed fish groups in South America. Phylogenetic analysis in the family have recently indicated the existence of two main clades: "sorubiminae" and the OCP clade, including Pimelodus ornatus, "calophysines" and "pimelodines." The aim of this study was to investigate the karyotype of three ...

Ovarian follicle growth in the catfish Iheringichthys labrosus (Siluriformes: Pimelodidae)

Tissue and Cell, 2006
The morphofunctional organisation of the female reproductive system, the oocyte growth and the follicular envelope ultrastructure were studied by the first time in the catfish Iheringichthys labrosus from Upper Paraná River basin, Southeastern Brazil, in order to contribute to the knowledge of the reproductive behaviour strategies of this species.

Supernumerary chromosomes in a Rhamdia hilarii population (Pisces, Pimelodidae)

Genetica, 1990
A study was conducted on the chromosomes of a Rhamdia hilarii (Pisces, Pimelodidae) population. The results suggest that the basic chromosome number is 2n=58, with numerical variation up to a limit of 2n=63, due to the presence of supernumerary chromosomes which seem to be mitotically stable.
