Genetica, 2000
Eighteen specimens of Pimelodus maculatus collected from Tibagi River (Sertaneja, PR, Brazil) were analyzed cytogenetically. The diploid number of 56 chromosomes was observed and karyotype was 20 M + 20 SM + 10 ST + 6 A with fundamental number (FN) of 106.

Ecology of Pimelodus maculatus (Siluriformes) in the Corumbá Reservoir, Brazil
2002The distribution, abundance and reproduction of the “mandi”, Pimelodus maculatus, were studied in different environments of the Corumbá Reservoir and its main tributaries in Goiás State, Brazil. Samplings were carried out monthly from March 1998 to February 1999, using gillnets and longlines.

Effect of cadmium on Golgi complex of freshwater teleost (Pimelodus maculatus) hepatocytes
Protoplasma, 1980Freshwater teleost hepatocytes show hypertrophied Golgi complexes 3 days after a single intraperitoneal injection of cadmium chloride (10 mg/Kg).

Tubulated bodies in teleost (Pimelodus maculatus) endothelial cells.
Archives d'anatomie microscopique et de morphologie experimentale, 1983In the present report tubulated granules are described for the first time in a freshwater teleost (Pimelodus maculatus) endothelial cells. Some ultrastructural characteristics as well as the localization and distribution suggest that tubulated bodies represent the teleost counterpart of the Weibel-Palade bodies described in other animal classes.

Abstract 1. 1. The effect of changes in pH, ATP concentration and temperature upon the oxygen equilibria of the hemoglobin hemolysate from the freshwater catfish Pimelodus maculatus are reported. Chromatography of the hemolysate allowed the isolation of three components, and oxygen equilibrium studies on two of these are also mentioned. 2. 2.

This study analyses the ontogenetic diet shifts of a Neotropical catfish, Pimelodus maculatus (Siluriformes, Pimelodidae), from an ecomorphological standpoint. We collected 241 individuals in the Piracicaba River (Brazil) and, in the laboratory, seven morphometric variables were recorded from each specimen: standard length (SL), body depth, head length,

Electron microscopic study of teleost (Pimelodus maculatus) pancreatic islet cells.
Gegenbaurs morphologisches Jahrbuch, 1984The endocrine pancreas of the freshwater teleost Pimelodus maculatus was studied by electron microscopy. Based on the granule morphology 2 cell types were described: Secretory granules of type I cells are rounded, nearly completely filling the limiting membranous sac which measures from 120 to 150 nm in diameter; the type II granules are also rounded ...

Ultrastructure of the epidermal cells of the teleost Pimelodus maculatus Lacépède, 1803 (pisces).
Anatomischer Anzeiger, 1977By means of electronmicroscope technique were studied the cell types in the epidermis of the teleost Pimelodus maculatus LACEPEDE. The varied cells were described after their morphological aspect. The behaviour of the plasma membrane and the cytoplasmatic components, especially the microfilaments and the rough endoplasmatic reticulum, were discussed in

Mammalian insulin (350 IU/kg) and glucagon (2.5 mg/kg) were injected intraperitoneally into Pimelodus maculatus, a South American teleost. Extent of carbohydrate regulation was estimated through determination of plasma glucose levels, liver-somatic index, and liver and muscle glycogen contents. The effects of insulin administration, examined 6, 12, 24,

The effect of environmental temperature on the activity of liver microsomes of fish (Pimelodus maculatus) to desaturate and elongate oleic, linoleic and alpha-linolenic acids was studied. It was found that: 1. Fish kept at 14-15 degrees C had higher desaturation and elongation activity than animals kept at 29-30 degrees C. The ratio of activity was the
