AbstractFish presence in tailraces is a remarkable management concern in operating hydroelectric power plants (HPP) in Brazilian rivers. Fish get blocked during upstream migration for spawning, and large shoals can last for days in the tailrace; however, the circumstances that attract fish throughout the year to this region are uncertain, especially ...

The hepatocytes of Pimelodus maculatus studied in thin sections revealed: 1. 3 physiological surfaces: a) in content with the Disse's space; b) in contact with neighboring hepatocytes; and c) showing grooves that delimit bile canaliculi; 2. bile canaliculi presenting, sometimes, intracellular diverticula; 3.

Fine structure of a freshwater teleost (Pimelodus maculatus) intrahepatic biliary pathways.
Anatomischer Anzeiger, 1982The intrahepatic biliary passages of a teleost liver composed by a muralium duplex was studied by electron microscopy. The bile canaliculus was commonly formed by 2 or more hepatic cells. In the transition zone between the intercellular bile canaliculus and the bile ductule, this duct was formed in part by hepatic cells and in part by duct cells. While

Electron microscopic study of lymphocytes in a freshwater teleost (Pimelodus maculatus) epidermis.
Anatomischer Anzeiger, 1984Small lymphocytes were identified in a freshwater teleost (Pimelodus maculatus) epidermis at the ultrastructural level. Although they were the most abundant, the medium and the large lymphocytes were also present. They were found at all levels of the epidermis, specially in small spaces between the cells of the basal layer.

Modification of microridge pattern in teleost (Pimelodus maculatus) epidermal cells induced by NaCl.
Gegenbaurs morphologisches Jahrbuch, 1983When NaCl is added to the aqueous environment, the fingerprint-like pattern showed by microridges of epidermal superficial cells of the teleost Pimelodus maculatus is modified. This modification probably occurs consequently the rearrangement of cytoplasmic filaments.
