Innovative Autonomous Design of Multi-Band Reconfigurable Antenna Using Genetic Algorithms

open access: yesIEEE Access
This paper presents a novel approach to designing reconfigurable antenna using genetic algorithms (GAs) and accurate PIN diode modeling. The method integrates TRL calibration for precise diode characterization, equivalent circuit modeling, and a multi ...

Carrier dynamics and coherent acoustic phonons in nitride heterostructures

open access: yes, 2006
We model generation and propagation of coherent acoustic phonons in piezoelectric InGaN/GaN multi-quantum wells embedded in a \textit{pin} diode structure and compute the time resolved reflectivity signal in simulated pump-probe experiments. Carriers are

Toward Next‐Generation High‐Speed Communication and Imaging: Solution‐Processed Sb2(S,Se)3/CdS Heterojunction for Ultrafast Self‐Powered Photodetector

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A high‐quality solution‐processed Sb2(S,Se)3/CdS heterojunction is designed to overcome the intrinsic limitations of conventional photodetectors. The fabricated device achieves an excellent self‐powered performance, including a high responsivity of 0.6 A W−1, an ultrahigh specific detectivity of 7.68 × 1012 Jones, and a wide 3db bandwidth of 175 kHz ...

Flame detector operable in presence of proton radiation [PDF]

open access: yes, 1974
A detector of ultraviolet radiation for operation in a space vehicle which orbits through high intensity radiation areas is described. Two identical ultraviolet sensor tubes are mounted within a shield which limits to acceptable levels the amount of ...

A split-cavity design for the incorporation of a DC bias in a 3D microwave cavity

open access: yes, 2017
We report on a technique for applying a DC bias in a 3D microwave cavity. We achieve this by isolating the two halves of the cavity with a dielectric and directly using them as DC electrodes.

Current‐Driven Nonreciprocal Response of Nonequilibrium Skyrmions

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A skyrmion holds great promise for spintronic applications owing to its intrinsic topological stability and high mobility under ultra‐low current excitation. Here, by means of in situ electron microscopy, we demonstrate a skyrmion diode effect and the associated current‐driven nonreciprocal skyrmion dynamics in a designed FeGe‐based microdevice.

Design of a New Radio-Frequency Switch Topology with Very Low Polarization Current [PDF]

open access: yesRadioengineering, 2019
Embedded systems are generally powered by batteries, characterized by a limited duration of electrical energy storage. For that, low power consuming RF components are often used.

Backscatter Transponder Based on Frequency Selective Surface for FMCW Radar Applications [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
This paper describes an actively-controlled frequency selective surface (FSS) to implement a backscatter transponder. The FSS is composed by dipoles loaded with switching PIN diodes. The transponder exploits the change in the radar cross section (RCS) of
