Southwest of Superior, Pinal County, Arizona, a shallow-depth, rhyolite plug intrudes Precambrian Pinal Schist and associated Late Cenozoic volcanic rocks. Intrusion took place in a single sequence of episodes reflecting progression from an explosive, gaseous beginning to a more quiescent end.
