The relationship between maximum oxygen consumption with strength and endurance of hand grip powers in assembly workers

open access: yesMuhandisī-i bihdāsht-i ḥirfah/ī, 2017
Introduction: Grip and pinch strength assess the function of hand and is considered as a sign of general health. Considering the high prevalence of related-work musculoskeletal disorders (WMSDs) due to the incongruity of work with the workers and ...

Mobile Phone Use and Hand Grip and Pinch Strength in the SCAMP Study

open access: yesInternational Journal of Medical Students
Background: Use of smartphones demands small, repetitive movements of the thumb and digits on small screens with prolonged hand grip and awkward wrist movement, which may result in fatigue, discomfort, weakness or musculoskeletal impairment.

Nanocurvature‐Activated Dipolar Polarization in M–N4 Single‐Atom Sites for High‐Performance Electromagnetic Wave Absorption

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Increasing nanocurvature effectively enriches the local electron density of the M–N4 motif, which facilitates electron transfer from the metal center to nitrogen atoms. This electronic behavior intensifies the localization and asymmetric distribution of charge, thereby significantly amplifying the dipole moment and polarizability.

Mechanosensitive Piezo1/Osteocalcin/Irisin Axis Protects Against Disuse‐Induced Muscle Atrophy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Mechanical unloading suppresses bone Piezo1 expression, which reduces circulating undercarboxylated osteocalcin (unOCN). unOCN reduction subsequently exacerbates IMM‐induced Fndc5/Irisin decrease and drives severe muscle atrophy. Bone Piezo1 activation or exogenous osteocalcin/Irisin ameliorate muscle atrophy, while muscle‐specific Gprc6a or Fndc5 ...

Electric field control of emergent electrodynamics in quantum spin ice

open access: yes, 2017
We study the coupling between conventional (Maxwell) and emergent electrodynamics in quantum spin ice, a 3+1-dimensional $U(1)$ quantum spin liquid. We find that a uniform electric field can be used to tune the properties of both the ground state and ...

Synchronization of Analog Neuron Circuits With Digital Memristive Synapses: An Hybrid Approach

open access: yesAdvanced Electronic Materials, EarlyView.
An hybrid circuit mimicking neural units coupled using memristive synapses is introduced. The analog neurons provide flexibility and robustness, and the digital memristive coupling guarantees the full reconfigurability of the interconnection. The onset of a synchronized spiking behavior in two circuits mimicking the Izhikevich neuron is discussed from ...

Effectiveness of Kinesio Taping with Exercise in De Quervain’s Tenosynovitis – A Randomized Controlled Trial

open access: yesArchives of Medicine and Health Sciences
Background and Aim: De Quervain’s tenosynovitis (DQT) is a common condition characterized by pain and inflammation in the thumb and wrist. However, the evidence supporting the effectiveness of Kinesio taping (KT) in combination with exercise remains ...

Exploiting Temperature Effects for Robust Control and Reference Circuits Using Thin‐Film Contact‐Controlled Transistors

open access: yesAdvanced Electronic Materials, EarlyView.
Compact circuits based on contact‐controlled transistors are well‐suited to unsupervised thermal management, sensitive temperature measurement, or temperature‐stable current references. Demonstrated on flexible microcrystalline silicon and supported by simulation, the approach does not require supply voltage regulation, remains manufacturable across ...
