Variation in morphological characteristics of pink salmon in Hokkaido

open access: yesNIPPON SUISAN GAKKAISHI, 2010

Gut Microbiota of Gray Snub‐Nosed Monkeys: Adaptation to Seasonal Variations Through Energy Compensation and Thermogenesis

open access: yesIntegrative Zoology, EarlyView.
Based on metagenome‐assembled genomes (MAGs), the gut microbiota of the gray snub‐nosed monkeys recovered 1229 non‐redundant MAGs. The gut microbiota showed an enhanced capacity to produce energy substrates with increased conversion activity of these substrates during winter.

Dispersal, source and glass chemistry of a third tephra unit within Iceland's Settlement Layer

open access: yesBoreas, EarlyView.
Tephra layers may be studied to understand the dynamics and sequence of past explosive volcanism. In Iceland, the distinctive Settlement Layer (AD ~877) underlies almost all archaeological evidence for the Norse Settlement and is preserved in soils across Iceland and as cryptotephra overseas.

Characterization of the Serum High Density Lipoproteins and Apolipoproteins of Pink Salmon

open access: yesJournal of Biological Chemistry, 1974
Abstract High density lipoproteins (HDL) were isolated by centrifugation from the serum of salmon (Oncorhynchus gorbuscha) captured just before spawning. There were no detectable low density lipoproteins in their serum. Analytical ultracentrifugation of the lipoprotein fraction yielded only one band with a hydrated density of 1.103 g per ml and a peak ...
