Numerical simulation evidence of dynamical transverse Meissner effect and moving Bose glass phase

open access: yes, 2003
We present 3D numerical simulation results of moving vortex lattices in presence of 1D correlated disorder at zero temperature. Our results with field tilting confirm the theoritical predictions of a moving Bose glass phase, characterized by transverse ...

Direct Metal Deposition of Graphene–Ti28Nb35.4Zr Matrix Composites With Enhanced Mechanical, Corrosion, and Biocompatibility Properties for Bone Implants

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Graphene nanoplatelet (0.1 wt.%) reinforcement significantly enhances the performance of β Ti‐28Nb‐35.4Zr alloy. Grain refinement, reduced water contact angle, and improved surface characteristics promote osteoblast adhesion and complete surface coverage after 7 days.

From Individual to Collective Pinning: Effect of Long-range Elastic Interactions

open access: yes, 1998
We study the effect of long-range elastic interactions in the dynamical behavior of an elastic chain driven quasi-statically in a quenched random pinning potential and in the strong pinning limit.

In Situ Micromechanical Study of Bimodal γ′–γ″ Precipitate Assemblies in Ni–Cr–Al–Nb Superalloy

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A Ni–Cr–Al–Nb superalloy with a bimodal γ′–γ″ precipitate distribution is developed. Composite precipitate assemblies form through heterogeneous nucleation, effectively impeding dislocation motion. Micropillar compression reveals high strength at room and elevated temperatures, governed by precipitate shearing, with coupled faulting mechanisms ...

Pinned Distance Sets Using Effective Dimension

open access: yesCoRR, 2022
In this paper, we use algorithmic tools, effective dimension and Kolmogorov complexity, to study the fractal dimension of distance sets. We show that, for any analytic set $E\subseteq\R^2$ of Hausdorff dimension strictly greater than one, the \textit{pinned distance set} of $E$, $Δ_x E$, has Hausdorff dimension of at least $\frac{3}{4}$, for all points

Influence of Surface Finish on the Tribological Performance of AlTiBN Coatings Deposited on Forming Tools

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Aluminum and nitride coatings are used in industry because they are hard, resist wear, and protect against oxidation. Adding boron can improve friction behavior and other properties. This study tests coatings on surfaces with different finishes. Results show smoother surfaces perform better, while rough ones wear faster, although coatings can reduce ...

Domain wall mobility and roughening in doped ferroelectric hexagonal manganites

open access: yesPhysical Review Research, 2020
The macroscopic performance of ferroelectric and piezoelectric devices depends strongly on domain wall dynamics. It is clear that structural defects, such as vacancies, interstitials, and dopants codetermine the dynamics, but the microscopic ...

Exploring Dipolar Dynamics and Ionic Transport in Metal‐Organic Frameworks: Experimental and Theoretical Insights

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
In this study, the interplay of dipolar dynamics and ionic charge transport in MOF compounds is investigated. Synthesizing the novel structure CFA‐25 with integrated freely rotating dipolar groups, local and macroscopic effects, including interactions with Cs cations are explored.
