Heritable variation in tree growth and needle vegetation indices of slash pine (Pinus elliottii) using unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs)

Industrial crops and products (Print), 2021
Vegetation indices (VIs) are mainly associated with plant yield, and yield-related physiological traits can assist in breeding selection. Tree breeding programs require a rapid assessment of a large number of individual trees across multiple regions ...

Resin yield in Pinus elliottii Engelm. is related to the resin flow rate, resin components and resin duct characteristics at three locations in southern China

, 2020
In pine species, resin ducts are the specialized secretory structures to synthesize and store resin. Resin terpenes finds broad applications in pharmaceutical, chemical, biofuel, and food fields.

Fatty acids of Pinus elliottii tissues

Phytochemistry, 1973
The total fatty constituents of slash pine (Pinus elliottii) tissue cultures, seeds, and seedlings were examined by GLC and MS. Qualitatively, the fatty acid composition of these tissues was found to be very similar to that reported for other pine species. The fatty acid contents of the tissue cultures resembled that of the seedling tissues.

Inheritance of resin yield and main resin components in Pinus elliottii Engelm. at three locations in southern China

, 2020
Resin terpenes are used as raw material by an array of industrial sectors. Slash pine (Pinus elliottii Engelm.) is a multi-purpose tree, best known as a resin-tapping tree species for commercial production of resin.

Mechanical and microstructural characterization of epoxy/sawdust (Pinus elliottii) composites

Polymers and Polymer Composites, 2020
The use of wood residues in polymeric matrices is notable for promoting significant mechanical reinforcement of the matrix. Such composites are widely used in the development of new composite materials with tunable mechanical properties for a variety of ...

Resin exudation profile, chemical composition, and secretory canal characterization in contrasting yield phenotypes of Pinus elliottii Engelm

Industrial crops and products (Print), 2019
In conifer stems, secretory canals synthesize and store resin for defense against herbivores and pathogens. Resin terpenes are used as raw material by an array of industrial sectors.

Pinus elliottii (slash pine).

2021
Abstract P. elliottii var. elliottii is an important timber species native to the lower coastal plain within the southeastern USA. Because of its rapid early growth and its production of highly valuable wood products, it has been widely introduced into other countries. As an exotic, it is used in Africa, especially in southern Africa,

Resinosis of young slash pine (Pinus elliottii Engelm.) as a tool for resin stimulant paste development and high yield individual selection

Industrial crops and products (Print), 2019
Pine resin, a natural source of industrially relevant terpenes, is a major non-wood forestry commodity. Resin is obtained by wounding the bark of adult trees and applying stimulant pastes with different adjuvants on the wound.
