ECTOMYCORRHIZAL ASSOCIATIONS PROVEN FOR PINUS HALEPENSIS

Six new ectomycorrhizal associations with Pinus halepensis are described. These associations have been proven using the “pouch” method for in vitro synthesis of ectomycorrhizae. Morphological and anatomical characteristics of each association are presented.

AbstractFrom The Unripe Cones Of Pinus Halepensis (Pinaceae), (+)- Catechin, (-)- Epicatechin and (+)-Gallocatechin As Peracetate Derivatives and Procyanidin Bl, B3, B4, B6 and B7 As Decaacetates Were Isolated and Identified. The Major Components Were (+)- Catechin, Procyanidin B3 and Procyanidin B6. The Unripe Cones Contained 4.63% Total Procyanidins.

Between May and September, 1996, seedlings of Pinus halepensis were placed at a site adjacent to an automated air pollution monitoring station within the urban area of Florence. Additional 'control' plants were placed in chambers ventilated with charcoal/Purafil(R)-filtered air.
