Host Genotype and Nitrogen Form Shape the Root Microbiome of Pinus radiata

open access: yes, 2017
A central challenge in community ecology is understanding the role that phenotypic variation among genotypes plays in structuring host-associated communities.

Extração e caracterização de hemiceluloses de Pinus radiata e sua viabilidade para a produção de bioetanol Extraction and characterization of hemicelluloses from Pinus radiata and its feasibility for bioethanol production

open access: yesRevista Árvore, 2013
As galactoglucomananas são as principais frações de hemiceluloses presentes nas madeiras moles e contêm, principalmente, as hexoses galactose, glicose e manose.

Long‐Term Evolution Under Heatwave Conditions in the Seed Beetle, Callosobruchus maculatus

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 4, April 2026.
Here, using the seed beetle, Callosobruchus maculatus, we investigated the long‐term effects of evolution after 43 generations of fluctuating temperature with added heatwave exposure on two important life history traits, development time and lifetime reproductive success (LRS).

Distribution of within-ring internal checking in Pinus radiata grown in southern chile

open access: yesMaderas: Ciencia y Tecnología, 2014
The increase of Pinus radiata plantations in Chile has brought larger annual volumes to the industry and the opportunity to process them into value-added products.

Pinus nigra and Pinus brutia Extracts Inhibit Quorum Sensing in Pseudomonas aeruginosa PAO1 with Minimal Impact on Fibroblast Cell Viability and Calcium Deposition

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 14, Issue 4, April 2026.
Extracts of Pinus nigra and Pinus brutia inhibit quorum sensing in Pseudomonas aeruginosa PAO1 by reducing pyocyanin and elastase production. This effect is associated with the downregulation of QS‐related genes, including lasR, lasI, rhlI, and rhlR. Additionally, the extracts exhibit minimal, dose‐ and time‐dependent effects on the metabolic activity ...

Unravelling the spatial and temporal variability of natural disturbances in European forests

open access: yesJournal of Applied Ecology, Volume 63, Issue 4, April 2026.
The heterogeneity of natural disturbance patterns and high temporal variability across European Forest suggest the need of adopting context‐dependent management strategies tailored to both the dominant disturbance agent and local environmental conditions, particularly in the most vulnerable regions, such as the Iberian Peninsula—with large and frequent

First report of shoot blight and dieback caused by Diplodia pinea on Pinus pinaster and P. radiata trees in Tunisia

open access: yesPhytopathologia Mediterranea, 2009
Damage caused by Diplodia pinea on Pinus pinaster and P. radiata forests are reported for the fi rst time in Tunisia. The affected plants show shoot blight, canker and branch dieback. On decaying and dead branches pycnidia of D. pinea are observed.

Assessing the viability of genebanked seeds from rare, wild plants native to the United States using the D.E.A.D. paradigm

open access: yesApplications in Plant Sciences, Volume 14, Issue 2, March-April 2026.
Abstract Premise Genebanks must maintain viable seeds for decades. Seeds that germinate are clearly alive, but some seeds, often from wild populations, do not germinate because they are dormant, empty, aged, or damaged (D.E.A.D.). This work evaluates the effects of D.E.A.D.

Mapping and explaining the productivity of Pinus radiata in New Zealand

open access: yes, 2010
Mapping Pinus radiata productivity for New Zealand not only provides useful information for forest owners, industry stakeholders and policy managers, but also enables current and future plantations to be visualised, quantified, and planned.
