Pion, pion-pion, and pion-nucleus interactions
Physics of Atomic Nuclei, 2002This survey is devoted to describing the early studies of I.I. Gurevich on pion physics that were performed by the photoemulsion method and the studies of the pion-pion interaction that were made by his colleagues on the basis of the hydrogen-bubble-chamber and the magnetic-spectrometer method (as well as on the basis of the photoemulsion method).

Pion-Nucleon Scattering and Pion-Pion Interactions
Physical Review, 1962Low energy $s$- and $p$-wave $\ensuremath{\pi}\ensuremath{-}N$ scattering is analyzed by partial wave dispersion relations. From the experimental $\ensuremath{\pi}\ensuremath{-}N$ phase shifts we derive the "discrepancies" in the physical energy region and on the crossed cut.

Pion-Pion and Pion-Kaon Scattering
Physical Review, 1960The pseudopotential method is used to calculate that low-lying excitation energies of a Bose gas of hard spheres at T = 0 to an order beyond that previously calculated by this technique. The results are in agreement with those obthined by Beliaev using a different approach. The phonon velocity is found to be equal to the velocity of compressional waves

Clinical treatments at TRIUMF started in November, 1979. Ten patients with malignant subcutaneous nodules had 14 lesions treated with pions and 37 other nodules treated with 280 kV X rays. Three different fractionation regimens were used with X ray doses spanning the expected RBE range of pions.

Pion-Pion Interaction in Electromagnetic Processes
Physical Review, 1960The correction to the photon propagator due to the emission of a virtual pion pair is evaluated considering the effect of the strong pion-pion interaction in the J = 1, T = 1 state of the pions recently discussed by several authors. Results are given for different sets of parameters describing the pion form factor, and the pcssibility of investigating ...

Evidence Concerning Pion-Pion Interactions below the 765-Mev Pion-Pion Resonance
Physical Review, 1962A search has been made for pion-pion resonances in the reaction ${\ensuremath{\pi}}^{\ensuremath{-}}+p\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{\ensuremath{-}}+{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{0}+p$ at incident pion energies of 871 Mev and 775 Mev, using a sodium-iodide luminescent chamber as a detector. The spectra of ${m}^{*}$, the total energy of the two pions

Pion Production and the Pion-Pion Interaction
Physical Review Letters, 1959The cross sections for pi /sup -/ + p yields pi /sup -/ + pi /sup +/ + n at inc ident energies between 260 and 430 have been measured in a previous expeniment. A theoretical interpretation of these results is presented. An attempt is made to fit the results by using a direct pion-pion interaction.

Pion Production in Pion-Nucleon Collisions and the Pion-Pion Interaction
Physical Review, 1962Momentum distributions of the pions of all charge states produced in the interaction of 960-Mev pi /sup -/ mesons with protons are calculated assuming a primary pi pi interaction followed by a pi -N interaction with excitation of the (3,3) isobar state of the nucleon. Predicted spectra are in reasonable agreement with experimental data when the pi - pi

Pion-induced pion production in nuclei
Physical Review C, 1997The process of pion-induced pion production in nuclei has been studied with the A(π+,π+π-) and A(π+,π+π-p) reactions for four nuclei 2H, 12C, 40Ca, and 208Pb at an incident pion energy of Tπ+=283 MeV. The π+π- and π+π-p particles in the final state were detected in coincidence with the CHAOS spectrometer at TRIUMF.

Evidence for pion-pion interactions froms-wave pion-nucleon scattering
Il Nuovo Cimento, 1961By fitting the s-wave partial amplitudes for π-Open image in new window-scattering, in an unphysical region, we have greatly extended the energy range over which we can examine the contribution from the process π+π→Open image in new window. Our method shows up contributions from this process in states of isotopic spinT=0 andT=1.
