Identification of hydrogen flammability in steam generator compartment of OPR1000 using MELCOR and CFX codes

open access: yesNuclear Engineering and Technology, 2019
The MELCOR code useful for a plant-specific hydrogen risk analysis has inevitable limitations in prediction of a turbulent flow of a hydrogen mixture. To investigate the accuracy of the hydrogen risk analysis by the MELCOR code, results for the turbulent

Hydrogen Permeability of Tubular Polymer Membranes for Biological Methanation Membrane Reactors

open access: yesJournal of Applied Polymer Science, EarlyView.
A reproducible method for permeability measurements of tubular polymer membranes is developed and combined with a comprehensive review of hydrogen permeability data. Based on this analysis, a suitable tubular polymer membrane is identified for application in biological methanation within membrane reactors.

Asymmetric Magnetohydrodynamic Propulsion for Oil–Water Core Annular Flow Through Elbow

open access: yesApplied Sciences
The use of oil–water rings has become an emerging, effective, and energy-saving method of transporting heavy oil. Maintaining the shape of the oil–water ring and preventing rupture during the transport of heavy oil are of great scientific significance in

Evolutionary radiation of large‐bodied gorgonopsians from the lower Abrahamskraal formation of South Africa

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Abstract The middle Permian represents a critical interval in therapsid evolution, when gorgonopsians emerged as some of the first specialized apex predators within terrestrial ecosystems. Despite their significance, the early diversification of Gorgonopsia in Gondwana remains poorly understood due to scarcity and fragmentary material.

The Performance of Large Diameter Threaded Cast Iron Pipe Fitting Joints Used in a Fire Suppression System: Experimental and Fragility Analysis

open access: yesJournal of Experimental and Theoretical Analyses
Threaded cast iron fittings, including tees and elbows, are commonly used in fire suppression systems to connect piping components due to their simplicity, reliability, and compatibility with National Pipe Thread (NPT) standards.

How wildlife respond to tropical cyclones: short‐term tactics and long‐term impacts

open access: yesBiological Reviews, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT From butterflies to lizards and from sharks to seabirds, wildlife exhibit tactics to survive the impacts of tropical cyclones, also known as hurricanes, cyclones, or typhoons depending on where they occur. Some species seek refuge during the storm by moving, some remain in place and ride it out, and others move longer distances, avoiding the ...

Global and Detailed Calculation of Tube Wall Temperature in a Process Furnace Steam Superheater

open access: yesChemie Ingenieur Technik, EarlyView.
This study presents a comparison between an iterative global model and multiple approaches to a new non‐iterative model with the purpose of predicting tube wall temperature of a superheater. The results show that the non‐iterative method achieves sufficient accuracy while improving the prediction of local temperature distribution and better ...

Performance Analysis of Slurry After Sewage Infiltration in Pipe Jacking Construction of Subway Station Entrances and Exits Project

open access: yesChengshi guidao jiaotong yanjiu
Objective During pipe jacking construction, aging sewage pipes within the construction area are prone to rupture, leading to sewage infiltration into the thixotropic slurry along the soil body, thus impacting the performance of the thixotropic slurry to ...

Recombinant Monoclonal Antibodies for Detecting the Tubulin Post‐Translational Modifications Glutamylation and Lysine‐40 Acetylation

open access: yesCytoskeleton, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Post‐translational modifications (PTMs) to tubulin subunits in microtubule filaments are thought to comprise a component of the tubulin code that specifies microtubule functions in cell physiology and animal development. Acetylation of Lysine‐40 (K40) on α‐tubulin (αTub‐K40ac) and glutamylation of both α‐ and β‐tubulin are two tubulin PTMs of ...
