Submerged Arc Welding × 100 Pipeline Steels
Materials and Manufacturing Processes, 2014100 Pipeline Steels are welded by United States Lincoln double-wire welding machine. The welded joints have good weld formation and high welding quality, with no pore and crack inside. The tensile strength of the welded joint gets to 805 MPa, about 94.71%of that of the parent metal.

Hydrogen Induced Cracking in Pipeline Steels
Corrosion, 1983This paper describes the work conducted at the British Gas Engineering Research Station (ERS) using laboratory tests of the BP and NACE type to assess the hydrogen induced cracking (HIC) resistance of pipeline steels. Various grades of linepipe and fittings steels have been studied, and the metallurgical parameters controlling HIC resistance have been ...

Welding X100 steels for gas pipelines
Welding International, 2004Abstract The increasing demand for high strength steel (to date not included in the standards for pipe material specifications) for dedicated long distance pipelines for natural gas transportation at high pressure (≥ 10 Mpa) has prompted studies of the overall integrity of both the pipe and the girth welds used, fundamental parts of the structural ...

Promising tube steels for gas pipelines
Metallurgist, 2006Low-carbon steels having the chemical composition (mass %) 0.03–0.05 C, 1.50–1.80 Mn, Cu + Cr + Ni < < 0.10–0.70, 0.07–0.10 Nb, and ≈0.015 Ti can be produced in strength classes from X70 to X80, depending on the number of alloying elements and the cooling conditions after rolling.

Mechanical properties of pipeline steel welds
Materials Testing, 2017Abstract Pipeline systems are used as the most economical solution for the transportation of the media used in the oil and gas industry. The major fabrication process representing the period elapsed from production of the pipes to service installation is welding.

Monitoring Acoustic Noise in Steel Pipelines
2008 7th International Pipeline Conference, Volume 1, 2008A system is under development to permanently monitor the acoustic noise transported in a steel pipe. Using different kinds of sensors it is attempted to identify its sources. Initial goals are detection and, if possible, prevention of severe damage to the pipeline, mainly induced by third-party interference.

Erosion-Corrosion Behavior of Pipeline Steel
Materials Performance, 2015Erosion-corrosion behavior of API pipeline steel was assessed in a 2 g/L sodium chloride (NaCl) solution, purged with carbon dioxide (CO2), as the corrosive medium and aluminum oxide (Al2O3) as the erodent. The corrosion process was monitored using potentiodynamic polarization and weight loss measurements.

Friction Stir Welding of Pipeline Steels
2013In prior FSW studies, consistent full penetration in pipeline steel has proved to be a difficult goal when using a portable FSW system capable of operation in the field [1]. In a previous study, metallography, mechanical testing (tensile and Charpy impact), and workmanship testing (root bend) demonstrated that full penetration can be achieved through ...

CATHODIC PROTECTION FOR COATED STEEL PIPELINES
Journal AWWA, 1971Leakage problems in the water system of Colorado Springs promoted investigation and eventual installation of cathodic protection for the pipelines. The history and progressive steps of that experience are outlined by the author.
