Comprehensive Genomic Dataset of Chinese Lizardtail Herb and Comparative Genomic Analysis Provide Insights Into Its Paleo-Polyploidization Event. [PDF]
In this study, we provided a comprehensive genomic dataset for S. chinensis. Additionally, we observed that the S. chinensis genome underwent a paleo‐tetraploidization event, followed by several chromosome fusion events, resulting in an aneuploid paleo‐tetraploid state in its current genomic structure.

The First Plastid Genome of the Holoparasitic Genus Prosopanche (Hydnoraceae)
Plastomes of parasitic and mycoheterotrophic plants show different degrees of reduction depending on the plants’ level of heterotrophy and host dependence in comparison to photoautotrophic sister species, and the amount of time since heterotrophic ...

Computational metabolomics reveals overlooked chemodiversity of alkaloid scaffolds in Piper fimbriulatum. [PDF]
SUMMARY Plant specialized metabolites play key roles in diverse physiological processes and ecological interactions. Identifying structurally novel metabolites, as well as discovering known compounds in new species, is often crucial for answering broader biological questions.

Tiny pollen grains: first evidence of Saururaceae from the Late Cretaceous of western North America [PDF]
Background The Saururaceae, a very small family of Piperales comprising only six species in four genera, have a relatively scanty fossil record outside of Europe. The phylogenetic relationships of the four genera to each other are resolved, with the type

Evolution of Class II TCP genes in perianth bearing Piperales and their contribution to the bilateral calyx in Aristolochia [PDF]
Summary Controlled spatiotemporal cell division and expansion are responsible for floral bilateral symmetry. Genetic studies have pointed to class II TCP genes as major regulators of cell division and floral patterning in model core eudicots. Here we study their evolution in perianth‐bearing Piperales and their expression in Aristolochia, a rare ...

Quaternary Radiation of Spring Ephemerals. [PDF]
The emergence of spring ephemerals can be primarily attributed to vicariance, with secondary adaptation to Quaternary climatic changes. ABSTRACT The emergence of East Asian spring ephemerals and the unique ecosystem can be attributed primarily to vicariance, brought about by the Quaternary rifting of the Okinawa Trough, the formation of the East China ...
