Advanced Nano‐Fibrillated Cellulose/Modified MXene Janus Membrane for Continuous 24‐h Water‐Power Co‐Generation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The Janus membrane integrates a superhydrophilic CNF@CTAB‐MXene layer with a superhydrophobic PTFE layer, enabling efficient solar‐driven water evaporation and electricity generation. It achieves an evaporation rate of 1.51 kg m−2 h−1 with excellent salt resistance and long‐term stability.

Slurry pumping techniques for feeding high-pressure coal gasification reactors [PDF]

open access: yes, 1977
Operating experience in pumping coal and coal char slurries at pressures up to 1500 psig is discussed. The design specifications for the mixing tanks, pumps, piping, and slurry heaters are given along with pressure drop and minimum flow velocity data on ...

Atomic Size Misfit for Electrocatalytic Small Molecule Activation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This review explores the application and mechanisms of atomic size misfit in catalysis for small molecule activation, focusing on how structural defects and electronic properties can effectively lower the energy barriers of chemical bonds in molecules like H2O, CO2, and N2.

Entrainment of Arabidopsis roots to the light:dark cycle by light piping.

open access: yesPlant, Cell and Environment, 2018
Correct operation of the plant circadian clock is crucial for optimal growth and development. Recent evidence has shown that the plant clock is tissue specific and potentially hierarchical, implying that there are signalling mechanisms that can ...

Jacketed cryogenic piping is stress relieved [PDF]

open access: yes, 1967
Jacketed design of piping used to transfer cryogenic fluids, relieves severe stresses associated with the temperature gradients that occur during transfer cycles and ambient periods. The inner /transfer/ pipe is preloaded in such a way that stress relief

Developments in modelling of backward erosion piping [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
One of the failure mechanisms that can affect the safety of a dyke or another water-retaining structure is backward erosion piping, a phenomenon that results in the formation of shallow pipes at the interface of a sandyor silty foundation and a cohesive ...

AVALIAÇÃO DA SUSCEPTIBILIDADE DE SOLOS GNAISSICOS À EROSÃO SUBSUPERFICIAL / Evaluation of piping erosion susceptibility in gnaissic soils [PDF]

open access: yesSociedade & Natureza, 2007
The basement rock areas of the Maracujá hydrographic basin show great incidence of hugegullies. This work aims to investigate the influence of the underground erosive processes inthe evolution of these features and to understand how the mineralogical and
