Polyphenylene‐Based Anion Exchange Membranes with Robust Hydrophobic Components Designed for High‐Performance and Durable Anion Exchange Membrane Water Electrolyzers Using Non‐PGM Anode Catalysts

Terphenyl groups bearing meta‐phenylene and trifluoromethyl substituents as hydrophobic components are incorporated into a quaternized polyphenylene‐based backbone to produce AEMs. The fabricated thin membranes exhibit high ion conductivity, alkaline stability, and mechanical robustness.
