Vibration analysis of piping connected with shipboard equipment

open access: yesFrontiers in Mechanical Engineering
The piping system connected with the shipboard equipment may be subjected to excessive vibration due to harmonic base excitation produced by hydrodynamic force imposed on the propeller blades interacting with the hull and by other sources.

A First Look at the Performance of Nano-Grooved Heat Pipes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Passive thermal spreaders utilizing liquid/vapor phase-change mechanism such as heat pipes, have been widely used in the macro-scale thermal management of electronic devices for many years. Micro-fabrication techniques enabled the fabrication micro-scale grooved heat pipes on semiconductors. Recent advances in fabrication techniques, on the other hand,

Environmental Impact Assessment of Copper‐Alloy Production Using Process Simulation and Semantic Modeling

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
In the current research, how environmental impacts of products can be tracked through complex production networks using semantic data and environmental impact calculations is demonstrated. Here, the example of secondary copper production and the subsequent production of copper alloys is discussed.

Impression creep testing across a heat affected zone

open access: yesUbiquity Proceedings, 2018
Impression creep testing was applied for studying the creep strain rates in the heat affected zone of a P22 weld in order to support an FE analysis of a piping system. The specimen size recommendations for impression creep were violated in the sense that

KupferDigital: Ontology‐Based Digital Representation for the Copper Life Cycle

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
It is demonstrated how data from different stages in the life cycle of a copper product can be stored in an ontology‐based data space. In order to showcase the methods and tools used in the project, four use cases are presented that show how data from different sources can be semantically described and queried from a shared data space.

Control-Oriented Modeling of Pipe Flow through Intersecting Pipe Geometries [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2021
We present control-oriented models for transient dynamics of isothermal one-dimensional gas flow through multiple pipes in series and intersecting pipe geometries. These composite models subsume algebraic constraints that would otherwise appear due to boundary conditions, so that our linear state-space models are well-suited for model-based control ...

Partitioning and Coarsening Dynamics of Precipitate‐Strengthened Cr‐Si Alloys: The Role of Ge, Pt, and Mo

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The microstructure of Cr‐rich Cr‐Si‐alloys is maintained by alloying with Ge, Pt, and Mo. The effects of these elements on A15‐phase fraction, partitioning, microstructural stability, grain size, and hardness are combinable. Molybdenum is found to be the most promising alloying element for microstructural stability during high‐temperature exposure.
