Towards Achieving a Reliable Leakage Detection and Localization Algorithm for Application in Water Piping Networks: An Overview

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2017
Leakage detection and localization in pipelines has become an important aspect of water management systems. Since monitoring leakage in large-scale water distribution networks (WDNs) is a challenging task, the need to develop a reliable and robust leak ...

Active Thermal Field Integration for Marangoni‐Driven Salt Rejection and Water Collection

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A thermal gradient fabric (TGF) evaporator with an auxiliary active thermal field can simultaneously increase evaporation rates and achieve long‐term salt rejection. The auxiliary active thermal field is well integrated with solar energy to construct moderate, extensive, and circulating Marangoni flow for salt rejection.

Experimental Study of Soil Texture and Cross River Structures on Depth of Undercutting Hole Induced by Seepage Erosion in River Banks [PDF]

open access: yesعلوم و مهندسی آبیاری, 2012
Despite of many researches on bank erosion mechanism, there exists an incomplete understanding of one of the basic mechanisms governing sediment loading to streams which is namely erosion by concentrated lateral, subsurface flow which causes river bank ...

A Strong and Water‐Retaining Biomass Adhesive Inspired by Tofu

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Drawing inspiration from the formation mechanism of the traditional food tofu, a strong and water‐retaining adhesive is designed using the soybean meal (SM) oxidized by glucose oxidase (GOx) and calcium sulfate oligomer (CSO). This design strategy effectively addresses the conflicting requirements of water‐resistant bonding strength and water retention

Sono‐Piezo‐Photosynthesis of Ethylene and Acetylene from Bioethanol under Ambient Conditions

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A novel sono‐piezo‐photocatalytic strategy enables the conversion of bioethanol to ethylene (C2H4) and acetylene (C2H2) under ambient conditions, addressing the limitations of conventional methods that are high‐temperature and energy‐intensive. By using an advanced graphene oxide/sodium bismuth titanate heterostructure catalyst, this work achieved ...

Investigation on ultimate strength of thin wall tee pipe for sodium cooled fast reactor under seismic loading

open access: yesMechanical Engineering Journal, 2016
It is important to investigate the failure mode and ultimate strength of piping components in order to evaluate the seismic integrity of piping. Many failure tests of thick wall and high pressure piping for Light Water Reactors (LWRs) have been ...

Spherical pipe joint delivers loads equally to mating flange [PDF]

open access: yes, 1966
Oxidizer inlet duct with a ball joint pipe fitting incorporating two spherical bearing races and balls in contact with centering cage springs transmits an evenly distributed load to the mating flange. This design should find application in piping systems
