Previous research has suggested that dyslexics treated with piracetam have shown improvements in reading skills, verbal memory and verbal conceptualizing ability, feature analysis, and processing of letter-like stimuli. Two hundred twenty-five dyslexic children between the ages of 7 years 6 months and 12 years 11 months whose reading skills were ...

DFT computational analysis of piracetam
Spectrochimica Acta Part A: Molecular and Biomolecular Spectroscopy, 2014Density functional theory calculation with B3LYP using 6-31G(d,p) and 6-31++G(d,p) basis set have been used to determine ground state molecular geometries. The first order hyperpolarizability (β0) and related properties (β, α0 and Δα) of piracetam is calculated using B3LYP/6-31G(d,p) method on the finite-field approach.

The Effects of Piracetam in Children with Dyslexia
Journal of Clinical Psychopharmacology, 1985Following previous research which suggests that piracetam improves performance on tasks associated with the left hemisphere, a 12-week, double-blind, placebo-controlled study of developmental dyslexics was conducted. Six study sites treated 257 dyslexic boys between the ages of 8 and 13 years who were significantly below their potential in reading ...

Piracetam in chronic brain failure
Current Medical Research and Opinion, 1979A double-blind, placebo-controlled trial was carried out on 109 aged patients with minimal or with moderate chronic brain failure to assess the effectiveness of piracetam (2.4 g per day) in preventing the progression of dementia. Patients received piracetam or placebo each for 6 weeks, the order of treatment being at random.

Piracetam in the Treatment of Cortical Myoclonus
Pharmacopsychiatry, 1999This paper reviews existing publications on the use of piracetam for the treatment of cortical myoclonus of various etiologies and includes the personal experience of the authors in progressive myoclonus epilepsy. Two double-blind comparisons with placebo provided results which allow recommendations for the dosage and usage of piracetam in cortical ...

The Effectiveness of Piracetam in Vertigo
Pharmacopsychiatry, 1999Vertigo is a sensation of altered orientation in space and may be defined as an illusion of movement. It is a subjective symptom and therefore difficult to assess. Examination and diagnosis remain difficult. Although treatment should be directed at the underlying cause or disorder, the origin of vertigo is frequently unknown or untreatable ...

Effect of Piracetam in Huntington’s Chorea
European Neurology, 2008Piracetam has been described to improve neuroleptic-induced acute extrapyramidal syndrome where a central dopaminergic hyperactivity is implicated. In Huntington’s chorea, this abnormality is also generally admitted, at least functionally. Therefore the authors have utilized piracetam in this disease. The drug was administered intravenously in a double-

Piracetam for dementia or cognitive impairment
Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews, 2004To determine the clinical efficacy of piracetam for the features of dementia or cognitive impairment, classified according to the major subtypes of dementia: vascular, Alzheimer's disease or mixed vascular and Alzheimer's disease, or unclassified dementia, or cognitive impairment not fulfilling the criteria for dementia. The trials were identified from ...
